Apple has a feature where friends can track each other’s activities.  When I finish a walk or run, my friends get a watch notification that I finished and they can give a snarky response and we have fun with it.  Today I started a treadmill run from the strava app on my watch.  it tracked steps and millage and my rings were closed.  when I was done, I tapped “finish” and it finished.  no notification of any type was sent to my friends.  When I use the Pacer app to start a treadmill run, it tracks everything and sends a “treadmill run” activity notification to my friends.  So is it a setting I am missing or does Strava not integrat with apple activities?  any help would be appreciated.  None of my friends have strava so they cannot get notices through that app.

Question, if they get the app and remain on the free plan will they get my notices through that?

It's possible, they’d just need add you to “favourites” to get notifications: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/115000173484-Following-Athletes-on-Strava#:~:text=Activity%20Notifications%20from%20Athletes%20you%20Follow%20You,setting%20in%20order%20to%20receive%20activity%20notifications.

Having said that, I use my AW and the native Apple workout app to record my activities, and only then sync them to Strava from Health. I find that much better than recording with the Strava app, as Apple has many more options, Strava's AW app is rather basic compared to that. I.e. you can still notify your friends the old fashioned way, they don't need to use Strava.
