Unless I’m doing something wrong it seems like I can’t access any routes downloaded for offline use unless I have a cellular/wifi connection. Which obviously renders the offline feature completely useless if true.

  1. Create route, mark as “Offline”
  2. Force quit app. Disable cellular data and wifi on phone
  3. Open Strava, navigate to saved routes. I get a “something went wrong error” at the top of the screen, but any routes marked for Offline use display below.
  4. Unfortunately, tapping any of the routes or “start route” button does nothing.

Can anyone else confirm this is how it works for them? I’m hoping I’m doing something wrong but it looks like offline maps don’t really work offline at all.

Hello @willryan042 - thanks for providing all the info on the possible bug.

Our team internally is aware of the issue and they are investigating it further. We will circle back on this thread when we have any updates. Thank you for your patience!

@Lola are there any updates on this? I have been waiting on a fix but am to the point where this feature is necessary for a trip I will be taking without service. I'm also getting a glitch whenever I try to contact support/submit a ticket. It's making Strava feel scammy for being unreachable and having such an important feature be broken for 3+ months.

Hello @willryan042 and @EmilyJ - our team is working on the fix. They have implemented some changes so would you be able to let us know if the issue is still present after you update the app to the lates version? Thank you.

@Lola I check daily for updates as forums seem to suggest this as the fix but I am using the latest version and the issue persists.

I’m having the same exact issue. Downloading maps offline is worthless with the way the app currently functions. You also can’t even keep the map screen open and navigate off of gps signal like you can with most apps because the app will eventually reset to the homefeed on its own accord.

What I see as the issues:

  • Allow app to persist on the map, instead of timing-out and reverting back to the homepage. I often navigate without a pre-made route when I’m improvising.
  • Allow app to launch and allow navigation to offline maps without internet… Maybe not have the internet-needy feed as the default homepage?

This is going to make me stop paying for the app if it isn’t fixed soon. It’s very frustrating.
