Latest activity pop-up not showing on iOS

Forum|alt.badge.img

Hi, I recently learnt from my wife that Strava shows the following pop-up which allows her to quickly edit her latest activity, which is a feature I've been longing for for ages, as I've multiple bikes that I need to update my every single activity to ensure I chose the right one.

However, this pop-up is not showing for me. We're both using iOS, though she's using iOS17 while I'm using iOS18. I don't think that matters though. I can't seem to find any setting in Strava for this though, nor find any feature announcement from Strava on this. Can anyone shed any light on this? Thanks in advance!

Jacky, how are you recording your activity? If it's recorded using the Strava app, it will be instantaneous as soon as you save it. I find that with activities recorded on my Garmin watch or Edge unit, there is the initial delay of syncing with Garmin Connect and then the push from Garmin Connect to Strava. Can you provide more detail as to how activities are recorded and if there's any intermediary platforms in the middle that are updated first?

Hi, thanks for your reply! But I'm guessing you probably misunderstood my question. I'm not saying the latest activity is not showing up on Strava; the problem is that Strava is not showing the editing pop-up for the latest activity uploaded.

Hi @jacky1019

Thanks for posting about this. The Quick Edit feature is currently in it’s testing phase, and we hope to release it to all users later this year. Stay tuned for future updates. Thanks.

Thanks Jane! So I assume you're saying my wife has been picked for testing? Is there a way for me to enroll testing?

Hi @Scout -

Please can you get a feature to Opt out of this backlog onto the product backlog?

I actually want my rides to be called ‘Morning Ride’ and ‘Afternoon Ride’ etc. with the autonaming, because then they are easy to organise and track over time for commuting effort.

Getting Kudos on these is not a priority for me which feels like the motivation for the feature to drive engagement rather than user function.

Getting a useful feature for ‘interesting’ activities is actually a daily annoyance for ‘essential’ activities in my use case as I have dismiss this popup each time I open the app and there’s been an activity logged since the last open.

Even viewing the activity on a browser first does not bypass this popup.

Cheers

Many users have been asking for the opt-out, unfortunately there's no response from Strava. 😕

Quite so - I did raise a support ticket about it too and was informed there is not a way to opt out or configure the experience currently.

It’s important to remember that we’re requesting a change to a feature that was likely developed in good faith, so they do need a chance to work on it.

We’ll never get a look into the range of things on their to-do list.

Polite requests to update the feature to help all users, as well as the users who love to give unique names to everything is probably the way to go.

In the mean time - I’ve offload the app from my device.

@jacky1019 - As you can probably tell by this point, the quick edit won’t do what you want it to do anyway. It doesn’t let you change the equipment used for the activity.  You still need to make an extra click to get to the advanced edit to make that change.  This “quick edit” feature is a waste of time and effort by Strava.  Once again, they implemented something but did not provide a way for people to disable it.  For some reason, they assume they know what we want more than we do.  Just about every time, the “quick edit” forces me to make extra clicks.  It isn’t saving any effort or time.

Thanks @anchskier for pointing this out. I came here looking for why I don’t have Quick Edit, but reading this I’m actually relieved to have missed out on it đŸ˜…

(Using the Strava mobile app on an iPhone 12 with iOS 18. Activities recorded with Garmin FR935 and synced through Garmin Connect. I’ve never seen the Quick Edit prompt.)
