The simplest way to clean-up segment leaderboard

Where are these bothering you and what have leaderboards to do with seldom used segments?

Ciao Jan. Isn't a good idea to show on the map just the used segments? There would be a reason if no one use them....

If there are such segments visible when exploring the map then you are right. Are there really many examples of that?

There are a lot of segments created to follow race courses.  Often, those courses are only used for that one race, so not something that is used frequently, if ever, after the event.  If the segment was removed because it wasn’t used periodically afterwards, then the people who earned the KOMs would lose that credit.  Really, those segments are harming anything.  I like to see those old segments as I find it fun to go look for ones people haven’t done in a while.

Well even if someone earned their KOM ages ago, they’ve still earned it, right? If you want to take it from them, beat their record. That's the way to do that.

Hi @Vincenzo

Thanks for your post. We appreciate your interest in segment leaderboards - they’re an important part of Strava.

We have a couple of ongoing initiatives around this. As part of our effort to declutter segments,we’re combing through our segment database, deleting any duplicate and unused Segments with bad GPS data. We also recently launched an upgraded auto-flagging system designed to catch over a third more “impossible” segment times before they even show up on leaderboards. Read more at the links below and thanks again.
