Hi, I have recently stated using Strava and I upload the GPX files from my app (oruxmaps) using the Strava inegration.
I have noticed that, in my activity feed, the parentheses by the “Best Estimated … Effort” tags show some time stamps that make no sense whatsoever.
If I spend 3:55h on my bike, how is it possible that my Best estimated Longest Ride effort shows (16:52:23) in the parentheses?

Thank you in advance for any help!

Some examples below:

The time in the upper row is the moving time (means without pauses) whereas the best efforts use elapsed time (that’s with pauses).  Maybe you stopped your activity recording not directly after the ride and some extra time was added or you have a bug in your oruxmaps app.

Hi, thanks for your reply.

The thing is there is the activity for that day was not close to that long (including stops it was around 6 hours maximum)...

Originally I also thought it may be an issue with how oruxmamps records the data (e.g. time vs distance being mixed up), but then if I open the activity in the first example it shows everything alright (see below). So it definitely retrieves the data correctly from the file since both the units and the graphs are ok once I open the activity, it is more to do with what strava shows in the dashboard, like a coding error of the website?

Could someone share a screenshot from the activity feed (without opening) showing if the parentheses show the right thin (i.e. distance i nthe longest ride/run/… instead of time)?
Thanks!

View of activity from Activity Feed showing wrong units (not real time instead of distance)

Once opened, it shows the right units for each effort (km and m in this case)
Graph within the activity also seems alright with the distance and altitude units being ok.

If you open an activity in the web browser you can see how much elapsed time Oruxmaps has recorded:

Yeah, it says it was a bit less than 7h. So still no clue of where those 16h come from?
Everything seems to be in order once I open the activity...

… but when looking at it from the activity feed those crazy time values appear (see previous coment).
What really puzzles me is that the 2 best efforts in that activity refer to distance as shown in the previous comment. However, the parentheses for those and other best efforts show a completely illogical amount of time rather than distance?

Could you please take a screenshot of some best efforts from the activity feed (like first image in thread) just to make sure it is my problem and not a generic bug?
Thanks a lot!

I think I see the problem, Strava has interpreted the distance of 60740 meters and elevation gain of 1027 meters as if they were 60740 seconds and 1027 seconds and then displayed these “seconds” in a time format. The part with “Best Estimated...” obviously is nonsense too, as those are measured and not estimated values.

I can’t give you meaningful screenshots though because my best efforts show only as “This was your longest ride” or similarly in the feed without mentioning the numbers.

@Jan_Mantau I don't have any ride records (and runs don't have the Longest Distance record) but I believe it should be in the mobile app > tab You > scroll down > Best Efforts, and the Longest Ride should show it:

@Jan_Mantau thank you ever so much! It never even crossed my mind that the unit mess up would be calculating the amount of meters as seconds and converting it to HH:MM:SS.

So there must be something wrong in the GPX file when specifying units or maybe I need to set a default unit…

This doesn't solver the issue but at least sheds some light.

I will keep researching. And maybe someone will come with a similar issue?

Cheers,

@Jana_S  I know but the problem is something that is shown in the website feed and I can’t reproduce it with my website feed, because other types of achievements took precedence, i.e.:

@Jan_Mantau time for a longer than your so far longest ride then - but a slow ride… 😇😀
