Something changed in the heatmap a few days ago where it barely shows anything besides the most used paths and roads. Not a good change. Heatmap used to show very rare trails but now whole areas are filled with nothing. I\m guessing something went wrong and this wasn’t intended to work like this.

I can’t see any changes. Which activity type, which of the four heatmaps with what settings do you use?

Every category really. All sports it barely shows anything. And both all foot sports and all ride it’s the same thing. You use to see less used trails, even rare ones. But now it’s almost empty with high traffic gravel roads being faint as well.

I checked again and maybe it was a browser bug the areas that were previously empty show up again.

Ciao. Maybe you can look at this idea. It refers mainly to the personal heatmap but in the thread someone quote the issue you're referring to, I guess for route planning. You could upvote for it.

I’m seeing a huge change in heatmaps in the last few months. I ride gravel roads that don’t get much bike traffic.  Before we could see if people had been able to ride places that are now empty on the map.  It seems as though the global heatmap now has a time horizon and older rides are being removed or it is being heavily filtered and routes with few traces are being eliminated.

I would like to see more controls on heatmaps and especially the ability to see low volume and/or older traces.
