Since today I can suddenly see who of my contacts is a subscriber and who isn't. That means they can see the same for me. Surely that's private information I didn't give strava permission to share with my friends?

I once got a subscription to support Strava, but that doesn't mean I want to broadcast it to the world. It feels extremely pretentious. Can this be turned off? And if not, can I get my subscription cancelled and refunded? It still runs until March but surely this wasn't part of the agreement I signed.

We could see it also before. It was some arrow in the picture. But now it is really annoying. It is hard for me to continue paying for Strava or even using it with all this new terrible features coming in the last few years. Why does every social media has to become a disaster after some time. Just reverse features back to 2020 strava.

Totally agree

The app keeps getting worse every time I open it. Please can they stop complicating the app with terrible UI design. Who is being paid to do this?!

Probably an “offshore” programming team consisting of students and interns who aren’t cyclists, runners, swimmers… or even users of the platform!

I hope not! But then again...a shield icon...really?!

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your thoughts. Please note that subscribers have always had a badge displayed alongside their profile image. This isn’t a new addition and the only recent change is the design of that badge. I apologize that the updated badge caused confusion. Your feedback is appreciated and has been shared with our team.

Thank you @Marya

Beyond just the badge, it feels like each update is incremental and lacks cohesion, as though it’s not guided by an intentional design philosophy.

Agree with everyone on this thread. The new subscriber update is absolutely horrendous and feels completely disconnected from the rest of the Strava interface. I already cancelled my annual subscription but I have to wait for another few months before it expires.

Why must Strava developers continue to make these cosmetic changes that add no value and make the app feel disjointed and more complicated, while key improvements that we have been waiting on for years (triathlon functionality, race features, etc.) never materialize?

@morrydraco and @doffshat :

I think your comments just nailed it!  Sadly, it seems the company is operating their software management in a very unpredictable, poorly controlled and reactive manner.  More like Nike's slogan of "just do it."  That's great for amateur athletes, but in a professional I.T. shop it leads to chaos.

Rather than being so haphazard and helter-skelter, a more defined process could be put in place.  And now for the good news:  These processes are not only taught in business school, but are widely known by the professionals who make their way around companies in Silicon Valley.  The common names for this are:  "standard engineering process" or "software development lifecycle".

Strava absolutely must commit to enforcing such standards on their development team... or else this confused mess will lead to their downfall.

They need to make changes like this

That new UI, orange fade on profile page, is ughly as hell. It is like they are looking how to fuck up a good user expierence every time they update. Getting worser and worser. It is just a mather of time till somebody steps up, create an app with the functionality of strava in the beginning days, and its over and out...

I personally really don't like new shape of ikon. Why they still have to change something what's warming and nice to watch?

And I don't like how is the photo which I want to share activity with, dark at the bottom (on IG).

And finally, I don't like the format of photos...when I'm swiping...not whole photo , just a centre of it.

Hi Marya,

Thank you for your response. I really think it would be great to have an option on it, so it is possible to get back to the rounded shape if desired. I personally don't want to show off the entire world I'm subscribed, although I like the features. Maybe some people want to, I personally found the new shape very pretentious. The discreet badge was way enough to me.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Leo

I am a subscriber and the subscriber shield is not showing up on my Strava for myself and for any of my followers. If my husband looks at my activities on his Strava then I have a shield. I have updated but it is still not appearing can anyone enlighten me as to why. Thanks
