I follow my brother and he follows me. He is a subscriber. Recently he posted a screenshot of the map of his last activity, swimming in a lake. I accessed Strava to have a better look of it but HE DOESN’T have any activity!

Hi @Patriziaf,

if an activity is set as private, you won't see it even if you're following that athlete. It's most likely the reason. Here's more details: https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/216919377-Activity-Privacy-Controls

Thanks, but what’s the point of following somebody if his activity is private? It’s like following somebody on FB or Inst. or X but not being able to read his posts! 🤦🏽‍♀️ And he accepted me as a follower.

I will unfollow my brother! 😬

@Patriziaf - It is up to each user as to whether they want to post their activities as “private” or viewable by their followers or the general public.  I generally post mine as public so anyone can see, but every once in a while I will have an activity that either I know others wouldn’t care about or that I just don’t want everyone else to see for whatever reason so I will post that as “private” so it only shows up in my own records for me to keep track of.  Some people use Strava just as a means to track their own activities and not as a social media program.  Not everyone wants to advertise everything they do to the world.  You could ask your brother if they intended to make their activities all private.  Maybe they just don’t realize it was set that way.  They could set the default to just their followers, so people like you would be able to see it but it still wouldn’t be opening it up to the world so to speak.

@anchskier Thanks. I also use Strava only to keep track of my activities (motivation) but I didn’t make them private because nobody knows me, nobody will search for me, nobody cares about my activities  (1,3 km around my house with the dog…).
I suppose my brother didn’t realise that his activities are private because he sent me screenshots: he didn’t want to keep it secret.
