I just got back from a ride and feel very frustrated. I started the app when I started my ride and, for some unknown reason, the app only recorded about a third of my ride! ☹️

I did not knowingly pause the ride at any time. The ride shows that I started and ended in the same place, which makes sense, because that’s what I did, but if I had accidentally paused the app at some point, then I would’ve had to accidentally restart it too!

I really don’t wanna pay the subscription fee if this keeps happening. This isn’t the first time that I wasn’t able to satisfactorily record my ride! I do take a lot of pictures when I’m riding, so perhaps I stopped it from recording accidentally, but I’m not opening the Strava app when I’m using my camera. If anyone can help me to make sense of this, I’d really appreciate it!

Here is my ride: https://strava.app.link/hBxQTB5NYPb

As I pointed out, I rode three times as far as the ride shows!

Hey @Dahveed7,

When taking a look at the ride within this post, it looks like you had GPS troubles near the end of the ride.

Sometimes GPS data quality can be improved by simply giving your phone more time to acquire satellites prior to starting your activity.

For more tips on how to improve your GPS quality see our article on Troubleshooting GPS issues for iPhone.

If you find that the information above does not resolve the issue please submit a support ticket and a Support Analyst will get in touch to troubleshoot with you.

Thanks Bryant! Could it be the case that the GPS signal dropped from not acquiring enough satellites? If appears to have dropped after I was 8.5 miles into it. I have deleted the ride from Strava but it’s pretty clear that I’d been riding for awhile before it dropped. Is there a way to set up Strava so that I get an alarm if the signal drops? That would be super helpful!

Hey @Dahveed7,

Thank you for clarifying.

Unfortunately, there isn’t a way to alert you once the signal drops unless you are checking your device.
However, I do think that idea would be helpful to a lot of athletes.

I recommend bringing this concept to our Ideas section of the Hub.
