UPDATE from the Strava team:

We can confirm the team is working on fixing the issue. We are expecting the fix to go out soon - once the fix is out, we’ll be sure to update this thread and let you know!

Hello all, I'm having an issue when trying to zoom out on a map screen where it starts to zoom out to see anything an area but then the whole screen goes white like a cloud cover & i can't see anything. This does it on my own maps aswell as friends maps.

Strava has been updated to the latest version & is running on an android s24 .

Issue is still there for me, S24 FE, have uninstall and reinstalled the app.

Really a bit poor to have a bug like this on such a popular phone.

Me too!

My only concern is if the engineers thought they had sorted this issue with the last update, does this mean there's another bug for galaxy s24 users & how long will it take them to resolve it?

Same issue here with the s24. Update didn’t solve the issue.

I have contacted strava customer support about this issue & the reply was;

Sorry to hear about the issue you’re experiencing. Unfortunately, our team is limited in our ability to investigate these sorts of issues directly, but we want to make sure you have the right resources to find a solution.

Many common questions can be resolved through our Help Center, where you’ll find step-by-step guides, troubleshooting tips, and expert advice available 24/7. You can also connect with other athletes in our Community Hub, where Strava users share solutions, best practices, and insights.

To start, here are a few articles that might help solve your problem:

These articles DO NOT SOLVE THE ISSUES for S24 users. ☹️☹️

So does this mean all S24 users just have to put up with this issue?

Just sent a report too, so they will have to unserstand that they are a lot of users facing this issue. Also it's not that difficult to reproduce if you have a s24 serie phone with one ui 7.

I also still have the same problem after the latest update. And yes, S24.

@Kimberly22 can you change the status of this topic to "Not Solved/ Open”?
Thnx in advance.

An update from the support on my ticket:

"Thanks for writing in. We are aware of this issue affecting Samsung S24 devices and are working on solving it as quickly as possible."

So I guess they are still working on it, hope they can find a fix soon 🤞

I agree. Not a single participant indicated that it worked for them. There is no reason to be marked as solved. @Kimberly22

@Kimberly22 this problem has been around for a few months now. In the meanwhile me and other Samsung S24 users can not use Strava at the maximum but we have paid a full contractprise. Please give us any update. I think it is time Strava financialy compensates us.

Hello @Richard LT @Kleef @pwheels @DercksenG,  If you update the app and are still having trouble, specifically with Samsung S24 devices (usually when zooming out), Please submit a support request . If you have trouble with our online form, you can send an email to support@strava.zendesk.com.\

Thank you!

Thanks Kimberly, i hope everyone you mentioned will submit a request. I did sent an email to the adres you mentioned. This is the reaction from Strava:

I'm not amused, its going on for weeks now. They still say that they are aware of the problem but still no fix..

It can not be that hard to solve, i guess..? 😡

Dear @DercksenG,

I also submitted a support request (a few minutes ago). I don't feel very confiddent strava will solve this issue (soon). Therefore i have asked for a refund of my subscription. I don't think this will solve the issue but you never know.

Maybe no one from the team who is working on the Android App is using a s24.. 😅

@Kimberly22 I already submitted a request to the support few days ago for information but we all had the same answer that Strava is aware of the bug.

Let us know if we can help or if the team need more info to reproduce the bug.

I have a S24+ and experience the same problem. I think it came together with another (ugly) map update that shows irrelevant "PR" badges overlapping relevant details in the map. The whitening while zooming out is extremely annoying. When doing a long distance bike ride, I cannot even see the entire track! Initially I thought it was a privacy issue that avoids others to see where in the world you are.

I cannot believe that Strava managed to introduce this bug _only_ on Samsung S24.

And I also cannot believe that it takes so long to get it resolved.

I'm now on version 414.8 from 2-Jun-2025 and submitted a defect.

Same issue here, also S24. Im still having the same issue even after the latest update.

Also in the next version 415 not resolved. I have now signed up for the beta programming and installed 416.6 (12392815), still not resolved.

So I have sent strava yet another email or ticket of complaint about this issue with an attached screen recording of what happens when you zoom out. I have also mention i started a post on the strava community where quite a few other s24 users are experiencing the same issue even after trying all the suggestions & recent update to rectify this problem.

I very much doubt it will do any good & i'll probably get the usual response of "have you tried these suggestions" or "try asking the strava community" 🤦‍♂️

I wonder how many other S24 users, who use strava also have this issue & are just putting up with it?

I signed up for the beta program and get daily updates. Still in 416.8 this not resolved. I just realized, was this introduced around the same time we upgraded to Android 15? At least in the beta program you have an easier email address to communicate your issue.

I also experience a completely different problem: when I search for an older activity on my phone, I get all the data except for the map and I do not see the photos. On my laptop this works fine.

Today 416.9, both issues not resolved

Pretty sure this bug and also the graphic glitches that some are seeing in the app are due to the Rive library they are probably using. Cf: https://github.com/rive-app/rive-android/issues/361

Also one comment mention the fact that the bug only occurs on s24 phone with an Exynos processor that i think was only sold in Europe and India. This will not help the developers that are probably working in the US 😅

Are you also using a phone with an Exynos processor ?

still having this issue. i tried several samsung phomnes now (s21, s21+, s23, s23 ultra) its only on the s24 series and it used to work before the ui7 update.

I have indeed an S24+ sm-s926b/ds with Exynos processor. At that time I was already surprised they use different CPU's for different regions. There were more strange things with this phone, in August 2024 we had an issue with a Google maps update which could not access the GPS. This was specific to S24+ but was resolved within a week or so.

So it can be related to (a combination of):

-Exynos CPU

-Rive library software

-Android 15

-OneUI 7

But I still think the most suspicious is the update to the map with the overlay of PR badges + text. Since this happened around the same time.

Anyone know how big the SW development team is at Strava? Do they read this forum? If I contact Veloviewer, I get a detailed answer the next day.
