I used to see an average power number in each of my cycling activities even though I am not using a power meter.  After yesterday’s ride I noticed the average power field is missing and replaced with max elevation. This change has affected all previous rides as well.

Does anyone know if this is a Strava change? I cannot find a way to rearrange the fields in my feed to eliminate the max elevation.

any insights would be appreciated.

The selection of metrics is automated and Strava changes the algorithm now and then. You can vote for make it useful and user friendly instead in the following idea:

Thank you for that. I did just go to the idea that you led me to, and I did participate in the vote. After reading all of the posts related to that idea, I have very little hope that anything will change. I also find it incredible that Strava would remove a metric from the cycling feed that is clearly important.  Can you tell me if the space on the screenshot where there are six metrics is what you mean when you refer to change the algorithm from time to time? The spot that has max elevation previously had average power. That changed on 13 June 2025 for me.

Same here, I want my watt display back 😞 i don’t care about max elevation!

Same issue here

Same here. I used to use that on a few regular loops. So it's not good its gone.

Strava is giving me fewer and fewer reasons to use the app. Its getting to the point where I am considering getting rid of it.

Thanks for your replies.

So its not a mistake? They taken away this feature to force us in a membership?

Wow great, first they are wasting my time, because i looked up preferences or a another point where i perhaps changes the watt field?

Now i see that i accidentially changed in a free trial membership. i really don’t know how i did this.

Great experience Strava, :(

Avg power is the only apples to apples comparison when using multiple bikes with different loads. I’m a paid member this is one of the most import stats for me. What’s displayed should be configureable.

Strava just removed one of its most useful pieces of data… bring avg power back! Why did it get removed? Is there an issue with the calculation it’s providing or something? Did big Power Meter lobby against this feature? Even if it’s not perfect, it’s one reference point that many users… reference…

I’ve been a paid up subscriber to Strava for several years and the estimated watts number was one of the most useful pieces of data to me to compare how I’ve performed from one training ride to another.  I accept that it’s only an estimate, but so long as the estimate takes account of the same metrics each time (speed, elevation and weight) it still provides a useful comparison.  It has also disappeared from all my historical rides going back many years.  Please bring it back Strava.

The title of this thread is a bit misleading as it suggests the average estimated power is only missing in the feed but worse than that it was completely removed from the app. It’s still visible in the activity details on the website though.

Given that virtually 100% of my viewing of Strava is on the app, it’s of relatively little use to me that it is still visible on the website.  Please reinstate it on the app Strava.

I agree with the usefulness of this information being included in the feed of every activity.

Even though at first, it’s like talking to a toaster I would encourage contacting strava through the contact us route. If you can get past the AI introduction, you will be able to tell your issue to a person. I’m not sure how much it will help but that’s what I did. Possibly they will work harder on it if they realize that their mistake has taken away. A lot of the reason people are willing to use Strava.

It’s gone for me too, it’s my main motivator to compare effort and keep renewing my membership. Strava sucks without it!

I thought this was a bug I’d encountered... after logging a Mountain Bike Ride as opposed to my more usual Gravel Ride the other day, for some reason my default bike for MTB wasn’t selected and rather no bike was selected, and as such the estimated power was way off. I hid the Power output from the activity whilst I fixed it, and then it re-appeared.

I now notice today that coincidentally, Strava have removed it from view completely on mobile now anyway.

We’re paying for your service and you quite literally remove features. Jokers. Don’t be surprised when you lose memberships.

my clarification to Strava about this issue.

Hello Mark,

Thanks for reaching out and sorry for the trouble. Our engineering team is aware of the feed issue you are experiencing and working to resolve it as soon as possible.

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience!

I would hope most of us who are experiencing this issue and find it. Unacceptable would use the contact us button to be sure strava knows it’s important.

Yes agreed it’s one of the most useful ways to benchmark rides, though I’ve noticed it’s mostly linked to average speed. It would be great to have it back.

my most recent ride, the only one since the average power disappearance, also has very unusual data in general so has there been a change or problem?

Hi everyone, thanks for flagging this. Our product team has confirmed that this is an issue and that a fix is on the way. Appreciate your patience as our team works on this. Thank you!

It’s good to hear the team is working on this. I’m not sure if you are aware, but it is often difficult to know if anyone is listening when we are trying to communicate with Strava. Thank you so much for this update.

I am user of the free version and as this morning I see Average Power number within my ride and in the app. I appreciate it got fixed and thank you @Mudnuts for helping on this.
