route builder not working

Is anybody struggling to build a route today? I have tried across multiple devices and in manual and non-manual mode and the result is the same. I keep getting the error message telling me to make the way points closer even though I am doing this. This is very frustrating as I really need to get this route built ASAP. I have turned off devices, restarted them,  re-logged in et cetera, all the normal things but nothing seems to be making any difference! Any ideas please?

Hi all, this seems to be a widespread issue - please let's try to keep all discussion in one thread. I’ve already asked the moderators to review and to check with the Strava engineers, hopefully we'll see some updates here asap:

Same.  This has actually been happening a fair bit lately.  Today it will work for a bit, but at some point during the route build I will get a message stating: ““Error: Sorry, we couldn’t complete that action. Please try plotting the point again. This can occur when routing across large distances, so try plotting more frequent waypoints that are closer together.””

Also, I tried manual mode as well with the same result and I even tried putting points in about a block apart, so it is definitely not a distance issue

been broken for me with the same issue for the past couple days; only thing that i’ve done that starts working again is ignoring it for a couple minutes

It feels like they have some overly restrictive configuration that blocks requests. It’s kind of acceptable that they have this, after all they have to protect their services and APIs. But this also shows that they don’t have good observability tooling in place that would allow them to see that suddenly many more route API requests are getting blocked and from many more clients that normally. Let’s hope they have a decent operations team that reads forums and can fix things quickly. It has been a number of days now...
