The new route is broken for over a week since the launch of the new heatmap. Plotting any point gives an error Tried on Chrome, Edge and on multiple PCs. Tried several different settings including manual mode on/off, heatmaps on/off.

Exactly this. Click anywhere on the route map and the point appears approx 1.5km west of where you clicked!

UPDATE: This only happens in Chrome. Edge is fine.

I'm experiencing the same issue.
The strange thing is that on my PC, using Chrome, the issue persists, but on my laptop, also using Chrome, it works fine. Both devices are running Windows 11.

However, in Edge, there is no issues at all

** Now it’s NOT WORKING on any device using Chrome :(

I’m expieriencing the same issue. Is there a solution for this? It happens both on Firefox and on Edge.

I have it too.  First time I bring it up, I can build a route for a few minutes, then it will start popping up the red warning with every attempt.  If I close the browser and reopen it, it will give me the red error after the first click.  It started for me yesterday, or at least, first time I noticed.

I’m in Windows 11 with the latest version of Microsoft Edge if that helps.

I’ve noticed if I start a route and it starts putting up the red warnings, if I just walk away from it, leaving the window open, when I come back, it’ll let me build a bit of the route.  Then it does it.  If I walk away again for a few minutes, it’ll let me add to the route.  Is this a connection issue?

Here’s a video showing exactly what it is doing.

If you try to edit a route and save it, while it’s doing the red-warning thing, it’ll give an unable to save error.

Piling on here -

[Support Team] - as an example, see the attached route:

https://www.strava.com/routes/3366488254177368806

I was able to plot about 5 miles of route.  Any attempt to add, remove, update, drag, etc will result in that really annoying Error box that takes up 30% of the map real estate per error (please - get rid of that or rethink how this is displayed).

As with the OP and the others above, this has been happening for about a week now and makes the route building unusable.  This is a key reason I use Strava and subscribe to the service (I heavily use the personal heatmap feature).

I duplicated that route and could add, remove and drag without problems. Please check your browser extensions, VPN, virus scanner and other possible software and settings that could interfere with the route builder communicating with Strava servers.

@Jan_Mantau The issue seems transient - the link I posted above was created and tested on two separate machines (laptop and desktop) but both in Chrome.

When I access the link now and edit it, the points plot just fine.  I’m wondering if there is some downstream API or service that is/was running into a error.  If it happens again, I’ll check the console for any errors.

To note, as the other posters have noted, this is happening rather frequently over the past week or so.  The route above that I posted isn’t the first time running into this issue.

Ok - so building a route for later this week, the issue happened again:

https://www.strava.com/routes/3366811182152246394

I was able to capture the following between the console and the network tabs - I should have captured the previous info but wasn’t sure what was relevant.  The info below was recorded after receiving the error, clearing the logs, and then trying to plot a point.  The link at the bottom is the link from the 431 error in the network capture.

I’m having the same issue.  This is happening in Chrome and Edge.  I disabled all extensions.  When creating a route it will work for a bit, but at some point during the route build I will get a message stating: ““Error: Sorry, we couldn’t complete that action. Please try plotting the point again. This can occur when routing across large distances, so try plotting more frequent waypoints that are closer together.””  It seems to be totally random when it occurs.  Sometimes it will happen after a few miles and the last attempt, which was the longest route I’ve got so far, was 48.88 miles.  It is doing it on different areas of the map, manual mode, and auto mode.  This is happening across multiple computers as well.

So this newly emerged issue seems like what others describe in this thread,

...hopefully there will be an update from the Strava team in that thread soon.

Not sure if it helps, but this is error console and network traffic captured when receiving the issue.
