Up until recently, when I shared a run, the image with stats would retain its aspect ratio. This seems to be no longer the case (in the last week).

For example, here is my latest run, ready to share;

However, when I post or even save the image, it is cropped to the portrait aspect ratio.

This has only happened recently, as I have been sharing in the same way every time. Can anyone shed any light on this?

To keep the conversation going…

I wanted to share some photos with Strava stats from my latest “scenic route” run in our local group - but ouch, the outcome is… terrible, sorry.

The only usable way is to save the transparent overlay and apply it to a photo manually outside of Strava, but it's quite cumbersome and definitely not trivial for a regular user - that's the 1st pic.

The 2nd pic is a version of the same photo downloaded with embedded stats from Strava: dark, edges smudged, all the vibrant colours gone.

I don't want to be the pain in the proverbial but seriously, why is the 2nd way even in the app? Who is the target group that might actually like this? What's the purpose of that? I can't believe that it really works as intended.

My example is probably pretty much the most typical use there is - 4:3 format photo, nothing special that would possibly require some nonstandard treatment. Still, without manual effort and editing, I can't share my activity in a visually appealing way, and it's a huge step back from the options we used to have before this new way was introduced.

I share your frustration. I'm tired of waiting for Strava to solve this issue. So, although I still record my time in Strava, started to share photo thru Garmin app.
