Question

South Korea No Longer Supported?

Forum|alt.badge.img+1

I saw on the 5k runner that Strava has “exited” South Korea. No official announcement? What does this mean for users and of course, our oh so recently increased subscriber fees?

I was coming here to ask this as well. If we are subscribers does support for our accounts cease? So I am paying a subscription, but other subscribers, in other places have priority over me? Or they actually have support while I will be ignored? It’s unclear. Will there be refunds offered if we choose to exit Strava, as Strava chose to Exit the South Korean market? Was there an official Strava message sent to Strava subscribers in South Korea? It came as a complete surprise to me, but I may have missed the official notice.

Hi @PDKL45  and @Shalrath, indeed South Korea is now on the list of countries where Strava services are “partially or fully restricted”, here's more details:

https://support.strava.com/hc/en-us/articles/16601441648013-Strava-Availability-in-Certain-Countries

The article doesn't answer all your questions though, it seems that the impacted users will need to contact Strava directly (this forum is a community hub, i.e. users helping/advising each other, but we don't have the “official” answers).

@Jana_S Likewise. I just assumed that a Strava community might be moderated by the company that owns it. How silly of me to expect support from the very people who make the app! It seems fitting of Strava after all their mishandling of subscriptions over the last while to completely fumble this change as well. Fingers crossed the migration to another app won’t be too hard.

@Shalrath there are some moderators from Strava here but as I understood from some previous topics, they aren't allowed to comment on things like this, not above the published statement.
