Question

Strava pauses and does not resume if you tale photos

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

50km ride with only 11k logged

I stopped to take a photo from the lock screen and I forgot that THIS always happens so I lost most of my 50km ride. I’m pissed because I really pushed on to try to test my form in the last 15km and they were just not recorded,

I’ve lost LOADS of training rides like this. Can you not fix it?

I’m a software developer. Do you need a little help?

FYI @Lola @Marya @Bryant @Kimberly22 - is this a known issue?

Hey @Jana_S & @Animal

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I’m currently doing some digging and asking my team about this problem.
I’ll be sure to return with an update once I hear something.

Hey @Animal,

I was told there is a workaround for this situation.
Can you try disabling Auto Pause for your next activities to see if that helps this issue with photos?

In order to enable/disable Auto-Pause on the mobile app:

  • Navigate to the Record Screen using the circular record button (center of the bottom toolbar)
  • Tap on the Settings icon
  • Tap on Auto-Pause
    • From here, you can set Audio-Pause to on/off, for run only, or for rides only

Auto-Pause Off: If you choose to turn Auto-Pause off, Strava will calculate your moving and resting time during the upload process instead of during the activity.

Keep in mind that if you manually pause the app, you must manually resume the app before continuing your activity, even if you have auto-pause enabled.
