Did something recently change with how KOMs are recorded with regards to ties?  I have a segment I tied for the KOM back in June of 2023.  I checked my KOM list just a couple weeks ago (July 9, 2025) and it was listed on my profile page in my KOM list.  I just checked today and it is not listed there.  I checked the activity and it shows that all is good including another KOM I got that day.  It still lists that segment as me getting the KOM (even with it being tied with the existing KOM).  I checked the segment details and it shows both of us with the same time.

I know that originally, Strava only counted the first person to get a time as the KOM, but that changed a couple years ago.  Did something change back in just the last couple of weeks or is this just a glitch?  I have included links to the segment and my activity below for reference.  I did refresh the activity achievements as well to see if that would fix anything but no change.

EDIT: I found another instance of the same thing happening.  A segment where I tied the previous KOM and was listed as having the KOM just a couple weeks ago, but now it is not in my KOM list as of today.  Something must have changed within the last couple weeks regarding ties for KOMs.

The KOMs I tied are still in my KOM list.

Could it be a matter if rounding / decimals? I mean - maybe the difference was less than 1 s so it’s not displayed, but it still was there… but I’m not sure how to verify it (how to get the exact / non-rounded times to compare)

@Jana_S - The thing is, the KOMs were in my KOM list as of July 9th but they are gone now, so something changed within the last 3 weeks.  I had thought about the rounding potential, and that could be it, but it would be a new application of the standard within that timeframe since it wasn’t being done before.

@Jan_Mantau - In your cases, were you the first one to achieve that time or the second?  In both of mine, I was the second one.  The person who has the KOM was the first to achieve it.  I know that is how it used to be, but that changed a number of years ago when they started to award KOMs to ties.

I was the second one (that’s my understanding of “tied”). In example:

@Jan_Mantau - Thanks for that example.  Apparently whatever is happening isn’t related to the date of the activity.  I looked through mine and found one that I tied a couple years after the original KOM and it still shows in my KOM list too.  Now I am more curious what is going on.  Maybe just a glitch in the program.  I will submit a support ticket to see if the Strava techs can narrow it down.

Thanks for the troubleshooting assistance.  Even without solving the problem, it eliminates potential causes and narrows things down a bit.
