Hi, the latest updates of the iOS app have some added automation which seems to try to be helpful, but, please, how can I disable that? 😬
First - making a screenshot of activity details triggers a sharing screen (where you can save an image of the map or the activity photo with stats). I understand it might make sense in some use cases, but if I'm taking a screenshot of the splits, elevation graph or pretty much anything in the activity details, I really do not want the sharing screen to pop up and hide the details that I want to capture.
Second - once opening a newly imported activity, a "quick edit" dialogue pops up immediately prompting to rename the activity etc. But it's too simplified and doesn't include all the options (such as: shoes), so I always just close it and open the actual Edit mode. The "quick edit" is just a distracting and frustrating step. If anything needs to be automated this way, then perhaps why not opening the newly imported activity in the Edit mode right away?
Again, I can imagine that these pop-ups may be useful for some users. But make this at least optional please, it would make the experience much more user friendly.
Literally just activated my community account so I can come here complain about it. There really should be an option to toggle this on or off. I hate it.
I always, in 100% of cases, select a shoe for a run. So for me the quick edit makes the UI less usable and more annoying in 100% of cases. Can Strava please stop forcing improvements like these down our throats whether we actually benefit from them or not?
I thought this feature was there so that people change the default titles but it even pops up when I already did that. I uploaded a file on the website, named the activity and afterwards the app wanted me to do the naming again.

This happens even if you did the edit in the app - after syncing an activity from my AW, I edit it (via the good old Edit option) to update the name, shoes etc, save, but still often get the annoying “quick edit” pop-up then. That darned thing really gets in the way and should be optional (if it has to exist at all).
This Quick Edit is really anoying:
Mostly what i do with my regular workouts:
- Mute it - N/A in Quickedit
- Change gear - if not default - N/A in Quickedit
- Set commute for everyday bike trips. - N/A in Quickedit.
I do not add media to every workaout, only meaningfull.
Yes i change title pretty often, but this as 1,2,3 still needs full Edit , it is OK.
PLEASE MAKE IT OPTIONAL!
Please make this optional, it's particularly annoying if you break a workout up into multiple activities
The current activity pop-up doesn’t allow direct editing of important details like feeling of activity, activity type etc. Instead, users must always open the full activity overview, adding unnecessary extra steps to a simple process.
A more efficient workflow would make Strava more intuitive and improve the overall user experience like it was before. Join us in requesting this small but impactful change!
Or add extra data like the RPE on the pop-up.
I think a lot of us who are having issues with this feature are already viewing stats or editing the activity when the pop-up appears.
One improvement could be to simply not show the pop-up if someone is already viewing or editing the activity.
I imagine that could be added as a condition in the code. Not a dev myself, but just throwing the idea out there in case it helps!
I agree with majority, the feature needs to be optional! I edit every workout, but never through the simple edit.
7 months on, and it’s still not safe to reinstall the Strava mobile app because of this needy popup that we cannot yet opt out of.
Sigh.
I’ve seen this idea being open for voting… copying it here just in case anyone wants to check it out:
Anyone who is with me and is as annoyed about this 'feature' as you all sound in the thread!
Use the link posted above to vote to have it disabled!
Strava is not going to remove the auto edit function.
They didn’t create it because they hope to please their users. They created it so their users spend more time on strava and see more ads, so strava can earn more money.
Too bad, because the functionality annoys the h. out of me. Not use the app but use the website helps a bit.
Strava, could you please make this optional??? It’s so intrusive and annoying. I don’t care to edit my activities so can you just leave me alone??? I’m on the the verge of unsubscribing and migrating to another app!
Please do upvote this feature to request this change:

It baffles me that it’s got so few votes so far.
Enshitification at its prime, strava keeps getting worse last few years
I also dislike the quick edit feature. Would like to turn that off.

Do you still have the quick edit? What platform (Andr, iph, pc?) and where in the world? It (luckily) disappeared on my phone a month or so ago. I did not do anything in settings, so I guessed that they figured out it was a terrible user experience. I'm in Norway at an Android phone.

I still do. On iOS, Czech Republic if it makes any difference. The only way to avoid it is to open the regular edit form before the activity finishes loading - one needs to be quicker than the quick edit 🥴🫠
