I ran 5 rounds around my park which is 1km for 1 lap but today when I turn off my phone during the run I looked at my phone after 5 laps and it was 1.6km how can I fix this

Hi @William chikowore

you’re saying you've turned off your phone - so you are recording the run with the Strava app on the phone, correct?

Make sure that the app is running all the time, that it has permissions to run on the background, and that you don't have any power-saving mode enabled. Also, the phone shouldn't be tucked somewhere in the backpack or so.

Here’s some more information:

However, keep in mind that the gps accuracy of a phone will always be somewhat limited. If you want better results, consider getting a smart watch / sports watch (such as Apple Watch, Garmin, Coros or similar - with multiband gps).

I presume you use the Strava app for recording your runs? In that case you should make sure that your phone has the best GPS reception possible during the run and the Strava app has all permisssions for using the exact location and background processing. For the last run you could try the “correct distance” feature that is only available on the Strava website.
