The activity type field in the activities.csv file is “Bike” for both road rides and gravel rides, so the distinction is essentially lost. The activities.csv file should include a “sport type” field (matching the API), which supports values like “GravelRide.” As it stands, users are unable to obtain a faithful copy of their data in bulk.

Ciao ​@david02. How did you save the original activities? Could you distinguish the different rides in the first upload? If the rides were correctly saved and so there is something that could be improved you can suggest it as an idea.

The original files were recorded as “Bike Rides” and then later changed to “Gravel Rides” on Strava, but these changes are not reflected in the exported data.

You should create this as an idea in the ideas section.

The same is true of runs and trail runs. The bulk export does not give you a way to distinguish them. All runs have “Activity Type”: “Run” in the activities.csv file, even if the run is marked as a trail run on Strava.
