What's the point of the Time map?

Seriously. What is the point of the time map included in the subscribers map options? If this is simply elapsed time, then it will always be the same and relatively pointless. Maybe there's more to it than I understand?

I've already tried it, and it appears to be pointless. If the map line will always show time elapsed, getting darker as time elapses, then other than this, what does it provide? Unlike other maps available, where data is dynamic and may change based on dynamic values, like pace or temperature, which provides insight into these values, time map is not dynamic, so the map will always be the same. Again, pointless feature it seems.

Getting darker as time elapses is dynamic. Especially for activities with convoluted tracks it can be helpful and even for activities with simple tracks you can see the direction with this map.
