Why can I only register 1 ebike but unlimited analog bikes?

In Strava you can setup bikes and shoes in the gear section, but not ebikes. However you can assign one of your bikes to be automatically used as gear when recording an e-bike-ride. There is no difference to other activity types, you can also assign only one bike to be used for e-MTB-Ride, only one bike for gravel, only one bike for a velomobile ride, only one bike for a normal ride and so on. That doesn’t mean all the other unassigned bikes are the usual type of bikes, only that the other bikes are not automatically used after recording an activity.

Before I got an ebike I had 4 mountain bikes. They were all mountain bikes, there was no issue having multiple bikes under 1 discipline and all I had to do was select the bike, not the activity type… now I have to select the bike AND select activity type or it defaults to regular mountain bike ride.

That would mean that mountain bike ride was selected before you started to record. You can change this to ebike ride before the recording starts and when the activity is saved it has the correct type and would use your ebike.

My default sports is e-mountain bike ride but it still records as a regular mountain bike ride depending on which bike I have selected. I have to change it after I ride, cant change before because only 1 bike is able to be attached to the default sports, not multiple bikes. The problem is when you select type of bike, there is NO Ebike option and the way Strava is set up, it forces you to change BOTH the bike AND the default sport then the next time I ride the other bike, I have to do the same. Its super annoying and i have a ton of cry babies messaging me about recording ebike rides as non ebike because it puts me in the top 10 and even KOM...
