What does it mean to be compatible with Strava?

If your device can export or record activities in GPX, TCX, or FIT format, and these files contain actual workout data, your device is compatible with Strava. Some devices have an easier process uploading to Strava than others. Strava has a publicly available API that hundreds of external developers use to integrate with Strava data. You may find your device listed here if such a direct integration exists. Alternatively, if your device can export or record activities in GPX, TCX, or FIT format, and these files contain actual workout data, you can upload the files here.

Syncing through Device Software

Most popular services can upload data to Strava through syncing software built by the manufacturer. For information on your device, please choose from the list below.

Uploading or syncing from other fitness sites to Strava

If your fitness site is not listed below, check here to see if a direct integration exists.

Upload a file from your computer

You might want to use the file uploader if you have rides on your computer that are no longer on your device or you have rides on Garmin Connect or another site that you would like to export and upload to Strava. You can upload files directly to Strava via our file uploader found here: http://www.strava.com/upload/select. You can upload the following file types as long as the file is 25MB or smaller and contains workout data:

  • GPX

  • TCX

  • FIT

Uploading a Garmin file

If you have a Garmin Edge or watch that doesn't support music, you'll find that the device mounts to your computer like a hard drive. All you'll have to do to get your rides uploaded to Strava is:

  1. Select "Choose Files" from this page on the Strava website.

  2. Navigate to /Garmin/garmin/activities or /Garmin/Activity

  3. Select the file (it will end in .fit or .tcx).

  4. Press "Open".

If you have a Garmin watch that supports music it will connect to your computer in MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) mode. You will need to use a utility such as https://www.android.com/filetransfer/ in order to get the files off your watch. If you have Garmin Express installed, be sure and close that before proceeding:

  1. Open Android File Transfer.

  2. Navigate to /Garmin/Activity

  3. Drag the file (it will end in .fit or .tcx) somewhere on your computer.

  4. Select "Choose Files" from this page on the Strava website.

  5. Navigate to where you dragged the file from Android File Transfer.

  6. Select the file (it will end in .fit or .tcx).

  7. Press "Open"

Add an activity manually

If you want to upload an activity to Strava that wasn't recorded with a GPS or other device, you can create a manual upload. More information on uploading manual activities can be found here.

You say you can record on Apple Watch >v2 all the activities supported by Strava, but I don't see the new added sports yet (for ex. Soccer). Is there any Strava app update to do? thanks

Another way to add activities to Strava is via email using GOTOES:

This is the tool, which uses the Strava API:
