KOM using e-Bike for pacing

gustavoghd

Hello, I would like to know what is the instance from Strava and from the community in general regarding KOMs being conquered using e-Bikes for pacing/drafting.

So here is the detailed situation. Someone got the KOM in a 5 minute MTB segment while being paced / drafting an e-Bike. Should he keep his KOM?

ps: the KOM ranking in question is the regular one, not the e-Bike specific ranking.

That is not permitted under Strava's rules.  Here's the help article explaining:

That guy's activity should be flagged.

Some friends are against reporting, saying that the rules does not specify e-bikes.

"Guidelines for motor-paced rides:

Motor-pacing, or drafting behind a motorized vehicle, is considered motor assistance and conflicts with the fairness and integrity of segment leaderboards. When uploading data from a motor-paced ride, please use the "Only You" or "Followers" privacy control on the activity edit screen."

Look, I don't work for Strava, but let's not split hairs.  We know what the rule intends, and in any case if we do split hairs... an e-bike IS a motorized vehicle as it has a motor.  The rule doesn't specify gas motors only.  Was it you who did this?

No. I'm not even in the top 10 spots.

We had a big discussion in our local group but could not agree on the ruling.
