Activity not showing in feed/activities on mobile app,but showing in activities on desktop version

Hi,

Any ideas on this one?

I recorded a cycle today on my Garmin which sync'd to Strava, but it's not showing up on the mobile app. The app registers that I did an activity, but there's nothing in the feed or activities. When I log on to the Desktop version it shows the activity in My Activies but not in my feed. I've noticed that the elapsed time is 11457hrs (legs are sore after that!!), could this be causing the problem? I deleted the activity and uploaded the gpx from my Garmin and it's still the same. I've logged out of the app and Desktop version, logged back in. I recorded another activity and it seemed to come up fine.

Any ideas would be much apprciated. If it's not on Strava....

Thanks,

Jimfred

Hello @jimfred

Thanks for posting about this.  You are correct - that erroneous elapsed time will cause your activity to not appear correctly in Feeds.

Here are a few options to try and resolve the issue:

1. Crop your activity if the additional time is at the beginning or end of your activity: How to Crop Activities.

2. Split and crop your activity: How to Split Activities. Keep in mind, this may only fix half of your activity. The other half may continue to have data errors.

3. Manually fix any GPS time code errors:

  1. Use www.fitfiletools.com - online fit file tools for files, including correcting Time Adjuster and Corrupt Time Fixer. We recommend trying both if one did not resolve the issue. Additional instructions can be found here: Fixing Time Code Errors
  2. Download the TCX or GPX file and use a simple text edit program to "Find and Replace" the incorrect timestamp and replace it with the correct timestamp. Open the file on a desktop computer, it should open a simple text edit program. Using the same date format as the incorrect timestamp, type the correct date into the replace area to change it to the correct date. Make sure there are no additional timecode errors in the file by scrolling through the file and checking some of the dates. If so, repeat step 4. Save the file and try uploading directly to Strava: https://www.strava.com/upload/select

Unfortunately, we are unable to manually adjust or correct these activities on our end. If you continue to run into these time errors please reach out to Garmin Support directly.

Hi Jane,

Thanks for this solution! I had a similar issue and used fitfiletools to correct invalid timestamp(s) - the activity now uploads and displays correctly in Strava 👍

Cheers, Peter

Thank you Jane,

I will try your suggestions.

Jimfred

Hi Jane,

I tried your suggestion. I downloaded the GPX file opened in Notepad and found there were many instances where the date was 2025-05-26 as opposed to 2024-02-05. I carried out find and replace all instances of this and saved as GPX, uploaded and everything is perfect.

Thanks a million for your assistance

Jimfred
