Offer discounts to K-12 teachers not just students, expand your student discount to middle school. Shouldn’t have to explain why we should grant discounts to military personnel.
I was looking at subscribing for a few features that I don’t get with my Garmin, but if they can’t offer military/veteran discount I won’t end up subscribing as Garmin provides most what I need. This would be a nice to gave and I’d be willing to pay 50% of the cost if that was offered based on what they charge students. I can’t justify the full price for only 1-2 features im missing.
I sent a message the other day and was told to follow this thread and give it a like. Little did I know It was brought up almost a year ago and still nothing from Strava!!
It is obvious at this point Strava doesn't give a **bleep** about military folks who have sacrificed their lives for this country or Teachers who try their best to educate our youth.
I'd consider subscribing if the same discount (or better!) that Strava extends to students were also extended to military veterans. Otherwise... it's just too expensive for what it offers on a fixed income, which many, especially disabled veterans like me are.
Very interested in these ideas being implemented (both from the educator and military / veteran perspective). Not much movement on this since back around the turn of the year… Hope Strava gives it a further look / attention.
Military folks often are assigned a pretty tough job, make less than minimum wage for years starting out, put in more hours than your worst nightmare, and need outlets like cycling. Give them a break. You're taking in more than enough profit, you don't need to profit off them so hard.
You'll probably double premium subscriptions among veterans, and isnt twice as many at 50% off just a break-even? AND a PR win?
Agree… check out RideWithGps… it’s a great platform for a greater price with less corporate greed to hose the public servants (military first responders and teachers). I saw on Reddit a guy getting vocal against military discounts (glad he enjoys his freedom). These listed public servants answer a higher calling for less compensation than their equivalent trained counterparts… Strava fails to recognize that and the only way to see change when decent dialect doesn’t work is to just walk away, .., hope they reconsider some time soon
Still nothing? You'd think it wouldn't hurt their precious little pockets, to give a discount to less than 1% of the population. Those that could double the amount of subs to their platform in their category. Seems like a strange business model to hold them out. I'll just stick with Garmin.
People have to remember that the Strava platform is worldwide, not just in the US. This means that if they are looking to give this kind of discount, they would most likely have to provide the same or similar discount to every other country that Strava is present in such as Russia, China, etc... Just trying to verify the legitimacy of their service would be a daunting task. Maybe that is all good, but just want to point it out so people remember that there is sometimes a bigger picture to take into account.
It's just as easy to verify teachers as it is military. In many cases, much easier to verify military than teachers, especially with things like id.me. and many countries use similar programs to verify, same as schools, except the military tends to have more options than schools to verify proof of service as it's used for disability benefits and many other benefits like housing loans, it also tends to be tremendously more accurate. That should be a non issue. Especially for the bigger picture.
