Offer a level of subscription that can work for two or more people who are part of the same family. People are unlikely to buy two subscriptions, but might purchase a slightly higher priced one if 2 or more people could use it.

Update from Strava: Family Plan has been implemented.
For more information, take a look here.

I would like to see a tiered pricing schedule with different features available for each. Along with the family option for those who need it, how about a basic package as well. I am only interested in the analytics which the app provides and have absolutely no interest in groups, maps or challenges etc. All I want is not much more than the free version and paying for a full subscription is far too expensive for this purpose, particularly considering heart rate data is not written to Apple Health as well.

This is great news. However, please design it in a way that takes into account the great variety of families that exist. A Strava "family plan" that gives you five accounts (and charges accordingly) regardless of how many people are actually in your family would be a family plan in name only. A plan that allows you add as many people as you want, perhaps with a progressively larger discount for each addition compared with the equivalent number of individual plans, would be much better.

@Bryant

Good much on this long-awaited request.

Can we have more info on the family subscription... How many people form a family account, fee etc.

Thanks, Strava!

Unfortunately I subscribed to Strava for individual yearly plan last month, so am I supposed to wait an entire year to be able to join my family?

Are you planning to make it possible to switch my individual plan to a family plan, for example with additional fee being a difference between individual and family plan cost.

Yeah same think, I've been a subscriber since 2015? something like that, and it was auto renewed in january, so If I join my wife and friends I wont get any money back? Could offer a CODE for people in our situation?

First: thank you for listening to your members and subscribers! It's really good to have the family plan available. However, the way it was implemented does not make sense for annual subscribers when family members are on different annual renewal dates. In my case my subscription (now cancelled) end in June 2025 and my wife's (also cancelled) end in July 2024. So either she opts for the family plan now and then waits for me to join her next year or she renews for one year and then waits for me to start the family plan next year. Either way, we'll pay double for a whole year. I am sure that is not what was intended. If it was, I'd call it money grab. So I opened a support ticket and hope to get this resolved before my wife's plan is up in a few days.

Per my comment above I reached out to Strava Support and they immediately resolved my issue by ending my existing subscription with a refund. So no I am signed up for the family plan and my wife (and daughter) will join me in a few days once their plans expire.

Hey @saikocandy & @qjava

I recommend submit a support ticket and we'll be able to further assist you on next steps involving your current subscriptions.

They thanks for the reply!
I submitted a trouble ticket explaining my situation - which I would guess is the same as thousands of other subscribers, but I was denied a solution like a coupon/code/refund and then migrate to a family plan.
I'm a 10 year subscriber that was told to "wait till january then you can join others". brilliant policy.

I heard the same thing. Cancel your auto renew, create a family account when the first one expires and then add the other people as they expire. Seems like there could be a better way. Sent this to their support team. Perhaps it would work.

Let's say one person has 6 months left. It's $6.67 a month on an annual plan (annual plan cost divided by 12) so they would have $39.99 left. Let's say the other person has 4 months left. At the same rate they would have $ $26.66 left. That total is $66.65. You could just say hey, convert all that to a family plan today and let the customer pay the difference.

The transaction would look like this. Customer would set up a new family account. Strava would credit that account for $66.65 and the customer would pay $73.74. After that, the customer would 'move' everyone to the family account (or Strava could do it).

This would give the family a full subscription, restart everybody on the same month in the same family plan, let Strava keep the money they already have, and clean the whole thing up for everybody. I'm sure there's some system stuff that makes that hard but from a consumer standpoint that would be amazing.
