Offer a level of subscription that can work for two or more people who are part of the same family. People are unlikely to buy two subscriptions, but might purchase a slightly higher priced one if 2 or more people could use it.

Update from Strava: Family Plan has been implemented.

In the era of the subscription-for-everything, there has to be a more streamlined solution for the existent and loyal customers to get in the "new stuff".
You cant throw your loyal customers out the window and say to them "just wait and by the way tell others to wait also" or watch people who probably never supported strava get away with a super new price.
Just do like ton of others subscription services, have the courtesy to offer a refund (by a coupon or something) and move them to a better plan. Everyone wins and in the end of the day you'll keep a loyal customer and win 3 more.

Hi team,

any update yet re: this? anyone has got refunded from submitting ticket?
or even better if strava initiatively pro-rate the unused period and refund it without being asked

@DennyS I just got refunded full price of individual subscription that was renewed in June and switched to free tier after submitting CS ticket. Now I’m subscribed as a family 😁

They only refund if the subscription was renewed recently, the rest is thrown under the bus. I always find baffling how a company gives better prices/conditions to new customers without giving their loyal costumers something.

Hello XXXXX,

Thanks for your continued time.

Unfortunately, we won't be able to:

  • Provide a partial refund for your current subscription
  • Update your current subscription to a Family Plan

You'll need to:

  • Cancel your subscription
  • Wait for it to expire
  • When your account is back to FREE
    • You can then join or create a Family Plan.

Please Note:
Your subscription status is independent of your activity/segment data. Downgrading your subscription back to free or canceling your subscription will not affect your uploaded data.

We're sorry about the inconvenience and we'll share this feedback with our team.

Best,
YYYY

I was really excited to read about the family plan, so we could use it together with my girlfriend, but.. it is not available in my country?

I mean... we can subscribe to Strava, but can't even open the strava.com/family page to read about it, because it redirects me to the subscription page.

Why is the family plan only available in a small number of countries, and when can we expect this list to be expanded? When can I use it in Estonia? We are a member of the EU, not some random backwards country somewhere without internet or whatever.

I'm holding off subscribing to Strava because of it, because I don't really want to deal with contacting support and so on, to move from regular subscription to the family plan like others have to do as I can read in the comments here.
