Segment /KOM/QOM territories

Hi, I love segments, and leaderboards. And it's very great that top 10s were added. However the gamification has so much more potential.

An idea for segment KOM/QOM territories. There could be highlights on the map showing who holds the most KOMs/QOMs in a specified area. Similar to (strategy) videogames, when you have control over a certain area.

I could see the fun with this, but I also see a couple potential problems that would make it difficult to implement and potentially more of an overall problem in the big picture.

1.) How would you go about determining the boundaries to each "territory"?  Some areas would be really difficult to draw a line across at any point to separate two different "territories" without splitting segments of just having people living right on/near the line and splitting their time on different sides.  Each location would be different based on how their roads/trails are oriented with relation to the town or region.

2.) Many places are plagued with hundreds or even thousands of duplicate or poorly made segments.  One person may have a huge advantage over others if they happen to hold the KOM on a segment where there are a bunch of duplicates (you ride one segment, but end up with 4 or more KOMs as a result).  You also might find some people creating new duplicate segments for ones they hold a KOM on just to pad their stats which just clutters things up for everyone.
