Often when planning a weekend long run, I'd start by planning a route, then star a few segments along the route.
But now it does not longer seems to be a way to see what segments exist along the route. On the route planning map, I can turn the segments layer on, but that would show all segments in the vicinity, and with the route displayed, it is almost impossible to see segments that are overlayed with the route. There is no list of segments either.
I am sorry to tell you, but this "optimization" of the UX has made it much harder to use.
Also, there is a problem with the implementation - it is impossible to select a segment to see its details if its start aligns with a POI or a waypoint. Also, it seems that a lot of segments are simply missing.
