Hey all! I have had two rides now in the past week where they show that they happened two days before the ride actually happened. The weirdest part is that I show up on the leader for today?! I have seen that maybe it is because I started it without getting GPS signal or something? I guess my last ride was two days ago so did my Strava just not get the memo that time has advanced?
Hey
There are a few things that can cause an incorrect start time for an activity.
We are unable to manually adjust the date and time that is shown for an upload as we use the data from the upload file.
However, there are a few things you can do to troubleshoot:
1. Elapsed Time Errors due to GPS
Your activity may have a beginning data point that is causing the start time to be earlier than when you actually started your activity. This can happen if an activity was started before you began moving or if the GPS did not have time to find a strong enough signal before the recording started.
In order to correct the issue, please use the crop tool on the website by moving the start point using the Forward -> button one click.
After you save, if the date and time is still incorrect please go back and try again, you may need to hit the forward button a few times to remove any GPS time stamp errors. See our article: How to Crop Activities.
2. Inaccurate Timezone settings on profile page
We use your account's timezone to determine start time for activities that do not contain GPS information (indoor, workouts, swims, etc.). Please try the following:
- Access your account through the Strava Website
- Go to Profile > Settings
- Select your current location and type in Los Angeles & Save (this is to reset the time zone, we recognize this is not your accurate location. You will reset your location in step 5)
- Select Refresh Page
- Enter in your correct location & Save.
- Select Refresh Page (if the time zone still does not refresh to match your location please try step 3 again and then refresh the page followed to ensure the time zone and location match. Then enter your correct location again and refresh the time zone). Sometimes the timezone gets stuck and just needs to get adjusted back and forth to reset itself. Once it is set and is accurate it will not revert back.
Resetting your Timezone will not correct any previous uploads only future activities.
If the above does not work and you continue to experience this issue, please submit a support ticket. We will try our hardest to assist, but ultimately if your timezone is set correctly the problem is with the data that is recorded on the device.
Got it all sorted out, thank you!
