When ever I choose to see the Night Heatmaps, nothing is shown… And most of the activities in my city, during the week, are in the night.

This function is useless.

We reported this in

but Strava didn’t react and didn’t fix anything. Even in highly populated areas nobody rides at night according to Strava.

@Jan_Mantau - I am seeing the same thing as well in my area.  Just guessing, but I am thinking they are classifying activities that would contribute to the night heatmap the same way they auto-name activities.  Only ones that the system would auto-name as a “night ride” or “night run” would fall into the “night heatmap”, but that really doesn’t work very well.  They advertised this feature to help find routes that are popular after dark.  After dark means a very different time of day depending on where you are in the world and what time of year.

Hi @hmap80 @Jan_Mantau @anchskier

Sorry for the delayed response. One question - are you seeing this issue on the Mobile App, the Web, or both? I can’t reproduce this on my end, but if you can provide more information we’ll definitely dig into it. Thanks.

@Jane It’s the same in app and browser and independent from the location. An example would be San Francisco with https://www.strava.com/maps/night-heatmap?sport=Ride&style=standard&terrain=false&labels=true&poi=false&cPhotos=false&nOpacity=100#11.23/37.7274/-122.4137 where very few streets are marked (zooming in doesn’t change this):

And outside of big cities there is nothing, URL https://www.strava.com/maps/night-heatmap?sport=Ride&style=standard&terrain=false&labels=true&poi=false&cPhotos=false&nOpacity=100#13.02/52.40228/13.05238:

@Jane - Same here as @Jan_Mantau .  We have a VERY active snow bike crowd here.  There are tons of people out riding at night after work.  I see their rides in my feed every night, yet only one small section of trail shows up which may happen to be what a couple people commute in the early morning I am guessing.

What is the setting for what rides are supposed to be included in the “night” heatmap?  Is it after a certain set time of night or after sunset or what?  That might help to determine what is going on.
