Using anonymisation, could local legends (and segment competitions) be participated in by those with private profiles? Maybe Strava could anonymise local legend winners with private profiles using their initials, rather than giving their full name? Or usernames rather than first and last name.

The local legends and segment leaderboard participation doesn’t depend on the profile privacy options, only on the visibility of the related activities (they must be visible to everyone). And the user name is not anonymous even for private profiles therefore it wouldn’t do much for privacy to only show initials on the LL leaderboard.
