Hi everyone! Today I ran 5km and Garmin told me that I set my personal best of 26:14 min. However, Strava reports that I set my 3rd personal best on 5km, covering that distance in 30:36 min. What is the reason for this discrepancy? For completeness, I should point out that I ran on the road and that at traffic lights I paused the run on the garmin forerunner 965. Thanks!
Hi
for personal bests, Strava counts the elapsed time, not moving time. So if you pause the run, the timer for a PB is still ticking. here's some more information:

Thank you so much Jana! It's much clearer now. I understand that it's a specific choice of Strava to calculate only the elapsed time and not the moving time for the purpose of calculating the best effort, but is there a way to change this setting and ask Strava to calculate the best effort based on the moving time? Thanks
It's not possible - and to be honest, from my personal perspective as a runner it wouldn't make much sense: for example I can run intervals much faster than what is my 5k pace, but that's because in the pauses / rest time, my HR can go down, allowing me to run the next interval in that faster pace. So while it is useful to see that my moving pace for the intervals is e.g. 3:50/km, at the same time I know that there's no way for me to keep it on a 5k distance - which means I can't simply make a total of the intervals and consider it my 5k PB, if my best 5k pace is around 4:50/km. So: the moving and elapsed pace / time both have their purpose, and for a PB, it's logical that the elapsed time is used.
Having said that - Strava may consider updating the app functionality; so if you want, you can submit an idea here: https://communityhub.strava.com/ideas
