Moving time vs. elapsed time in Indoor cyxling

Forum|alt.badge.img+6

I made 3 "indoor rides" today with a couple of pauses using the STOP button on my Garmin Edge 530. It was saved after the third ride.

The result in Garmin vs. Strava is:

Obviously, in Strava the elapsed time is used in avg. speed calculation. This is a horrible bug. E.g. if concentrating exactly on avg. speed during an indoor cycling, the record is totally useless.

Why the elapsed time is used in calculation instead of the moving time? It makes no sense.

Hello @Tata55

Thanks for posting about this.  For indoor activities, the Strava activity page shows elapsed time only.  For this reason, we recommend recording multiple activities in the scenario you have described.

This decision to use elapsed time as the moving time for indoor cycling is dumb. Is Strava doing this only because Strava prefers to use elapsed time on all indoor workouts? Why not give us a choice on how we want the duration calculated for some indoor workouts?

@Jane This seems not to be de case (anymore). Strava shows “Moving time” and “Elapsed time” but the values are the same. Which clearly are not according to Garmin data.

Why is this makred as “solved”. It is not solved and it’s really annoying. On today’s indoor ride I had to pause for a bathroom break. I pause the Garmin edge unit but Strava keeps counting my break into a moving time which totally ruins the stats. Outdoors it works fine, but indoors it doesn’t. I tried changing any settings that would solve this but didn’t succeed. Please solve this nonsense asap because I found couple of years old complaints on same topic and still nothing seems to be fixed. Thanks
