Hey everyone,
I just got the Xiaomi Watch S4 recently and have been using it with the Mi Fitness app. It’s already linked to Strava, and my outdoor walking activities sync perfectly no problem there.

But here’s the issue:

Any outdoor cycling activity I record using the watch does not sync to Strava.
I tried short tests (500m+, GPS was on, strong signal) still nothing shows up on my Strava account.

Things I’ve tried:
✅ Unlinked & relinked Strava
✅ Restarted both phone and watch
✅ Tried both WiFi and mobile data
✅ Synced Mi Fitness with Google Fit (still didn’t show in Strava)

It’s honestly super frustrating since cycling is my main cardio and I was expecting this flagship watch to handle that no problem. If anyone else has experienced this especially Watch S4 users I’d love to know if you’ve found any workarounds or if this is just a firmware bug we need to wait on Xiaomi to fix.

Also tagging Xiaomi support here: please fix outdoor cycling sync with Strava — it’s a basic function users expect in a fitness watch at this price point.

Thanks in advance!

Ciao @JREY sawn. I've just read a past topic and it seems you should fix the matter from the Xiaomi side (it's about other users syncing issues not specificly of your watch).

Have you checked all the settings on the MI fitness app? Have you get in touch with MI support?

@Vincenzo Hey! Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I’ve double-checked all the Mi Fitness settings and I even submitted feedback to Xiaomi  twice now  but still no update.

Here’s what I found out after testing:

When I start a cycling activity from the watch itself (Xiaomi Watch S4), it records all the full stats like average speed, BPM, elevation, etc. But that data never syncs to Strava.

Weirdly, if I start the activity from the Mi Fitness app on my phone (with the watch connected), it does sync to Strava  but with way less data and no source listed, meaning it’s not using the watch as the main recorder.

So it looks like the issue is on Mi Fitness’s end, not Strava’s. Their app seems to struggle with pushing cycling activities from the watch to Strava. I also tested with my older Redmi Watch 2 Lite, and same result.

Appreciate you checking in tho if you’ve got other tips or ways to escalate it, I’m all ears.

Hi @JREY sawn ,just wanted to ask if you got any feedback from Mi support? I have the same issue and sometimes it doesn't sync my running activities either. Recently I participated in a half marathon and it didn't sync with Strava :-( Another thing I am facing is that many times the steps counted are not summarized with the running (but the running activity is recorded in the training). Too bad it's been 14 days since purchase and I can't return it anymore. It works terribly and Mi support doesn't reply back.

Hi Kade

When you ran the half marathon, did you run with your phone with you or not?

For me, whenever I take my phone with me to listen to music, I have no problems syncing data from Mi Fitness to Strava.

When I don't take my phone, it syncs less and less correctly.

I recently bough a Mi Fitness (Xiaomi Smart Band 9 Pro) and face an issue in the sync process.

My outdoor cycling activity syncs to Strava but misses the heart rate, speed and all relevant data. Only the total time and duration of the activity syncs correctly. The most horrible thing is, my 18KMs ride on Mi fitness gets synced as 150Kms. This happens consistently, the distance of the ride gets amplified massively. My 18 Kms in an hour gets synced as 150 Kms in an hour and Strava congratulates me for the insane avg speed of 150 Kmph.

Weird thing is, if i export from Mi Fitness and import into Strava this distance issue does not happen however there is no other data still. Heart rate, speed, segments everything is missing. Sad.

Will probably return it
