What happened with URLs? Looks like URLs are being automatically removed from posts, so it's being a little bit more complicated to share for example Strava Challenges from clubs with friends.

@theofloor I know. I already asked my wife to cancel her subscription. I'm reluctant only because I use the route builder on a regular basis. I'll try the other services for route building and if it's working I'll cancel mine as well. I love Strava and I'm willing to continue to support it but they need to listen to the users.

The words “maddeningly unhelpful” don’t even begin to describe the official response. @Marya, @Scout, has there been any movement on this? @k1zmt probably put it most accurately and succinctly:

There are athletes who are brand ambassadors and they use referral links as part of their duties.

This types of measures indicates that Strava has poor decision making that directly impacts the large cohort of users.

Strava must reconsider this approach and use A/B testing before rolling out such features.

Obviously, the current implementation is a direct result of exceptionally poor engineering skills and must be immediately reverted.
The old data has to be restored from the backups.

@JbalColgate @VikAnis @tpiszel @BramH and anyone else who currently has a Strava Premium subscription: you should absolutely cancel that immediately until Strava can implement a fix! Maybe just maybe they’ll realize how silly their “solution” has been if it starts to affect their subscriber base...

they pissed off lotsa users and hundreds already cancelled their paid membership, i will not pay them next year

This is such an annoying approach.

“There may be terms violating or harmfull links on our platform”
Intern: “If we delete them all, the problem is solved”
Strava: “Great”. “We will drop the term “athlete safety” and our flock will be instantly quiet”

They are shrinking the social element in more ways (narrowed the nr. of shown media in athlete profiles as well) and are giving us AI BS instead.

Not renewing my paid subscription next year.
Found good alternatives for Strava Routes.

Strava doesn't just remove URLs. For example, if you manually add the text "VO₂ max=58 ml/kg.min" to your activity description, the next time you edit the description, the text will change to "VO₂ max=58 ml/". If you add the same text using the API, the change is immediate.

this is beyond dumb

Allow all Strava based URL/links to be included in descriptions, comments and posts.

It seems too heavy-handed that links to posts in this very community hub, communityhub.strava.com, are not allowed and removed from our content.

In particular I would like to promote the idea to provide a filter on our activity feed to try and spur others to vote on the idea and force Strava into some action. I am unable to do this as the URL is stripped out  https://communityhub.strava.com/ideas/filter%2Dthe%2Dtype%2Dof%2Dactivities%2Dthat%2Dare%2Dshown%2Din%2Dmy%2Dfeed%2Dability%2Dto%2Dmute%2Dspecific%2Dactivity%2Dtypes%2D6670

Hi @Woodacus

Thanks for your post. As stated in our Guide to Ideas, requests to roll back launches or revert an update will be closed.

We appreciate your feedback however, and I’ll be merging your comments into an existing discussion on this topic. Thanks again.

@Jane I know this thread here is marked as “Solved” (it’s totally not, but perhaps that’s beside the point)...any idea what the status is of links in Strava posts? @Marya @Scout?? Anyone???

@Jane I am not asking to roll back a launch, I am simply asking you to apply some common sense and let your own URLs pass through your filters. Hardly ground breaking?

Strava is the local legend of dumb decisions. 🏆

@Jane Excellent policy and great job enforcing it. Nothing brings a community together like telling your customers collectively to STFU when you do something amateurish and harmful to your platform. As a reminder @Mara posted this:

Nearly 3 months ago. You’re saying that as a multi-millon dollar company you’ve had to remove a basic feature that every other SOCIAL platform has in order to protect us with no additional insight on timeline, what has happened with our data, etc.? There need to be more threads on this.

@STRAVA can you explain why some profils and group like UTMB still have the right to post link ?

Time for an answer so a little bump
