Suddenly hiking speed in mph on the main screen has been replaced with steps. Analysis shows pace which is not something hikers care about. Segments show mph but not the entire hike. Can’t imagine why this change after all these years

Hey @Slatchley,

Thanks for writing in. We appreciate this feedback regarding Mobile Display of Hike activities.

The activity data you see on your dashboard may be slightly different from activity to activity depending on the activity type and the activity itself.

For example, for a running activity, the elevation will appear in place of pace/speed if the elevation gain is greater than 100ft per mile. Otherwise, pace/speed will be visible on the dashboard.

The information you see may also be dependent on the length of the text. For example, if you are not seeing elevation or pace but an empty space this may be because the time and distance take up more room on the screen, and therefore the next set of data (elevation or pace) is not displayed since there is limited room.

I have the same experience as slatchly. KBryant24 didn’t answer the question. I, too, don’t care about steps when hiking. I care about MPH. How can I change steps back to MPH.?

Hey @Drycraft

I apologize for not being clear in my response. Since steps have been added as a tracked measurement within Hike activities, there isn't an option to add or remove this unit from being displayed. The system will automatically display this unit if it sees fit. However, we do appreciate yourself & @Slatchley, sharing you would prefer to view MPH opposed to steps.

I'll be sure to pass this feedback to my team.

Just want to add that one of the only reasons I pay for a Strava subscription is to monitor my MPH on my hikes. I find it infinitely more useful than steps. Please consider giving the option to add back
