Hello @PatrikO
Sorry to hear of the issue. Could you work through the troubleshooting steps below and let me know the results. Apologies if you've already tried some of these:
- Could you please ensure the device can first broadcast as a Bluetooth heart rate monitor? If it cannot broadcast as a monitor, we would not be able to detect it under the new settings. Some devices may have a broadcast mode you need to turn on or enable from within its own settings.
- Please also ensure that the Bluetooth monitor is not connected to other services like Garmin Connect or Wahoo Fitness. You may need to enter the app settings of the other services to unpair the Bluetooth device so it can be paired to the Strava mobile application*. Bluetooth monitors normally may only connect to a single service on your device at a time.
*If your device is still detected or being picked up in another service while you're trying to pair to the Strava mobile application, the Bluetooth monitor has not yet been properly disconnected from the other services.
- If you're still experiencing issues, please try "unpairing" the Bluetooth monitor from your mobile device completely by following the instructions for your device below:
-Android
-iPhone
- Once unpaired, please try pairing the Bluetooth monitor to your phone again and connecting it within the Strava mobile application. You will want to ensure the Strava mobile application is on the latest version (above version 200).
Thanks and let us know if any of these seem to solve the issue.
Hi again! Thanx. Tried all of these but my guess is that this might be some kind of bug with Android 14? I have allowed the Strava app all permissions. The Garmin monitor connects instantly in the Strava app, but no heart rate shows. Tried to forget and reconnect in both phone and app. Changed to new battery in sensor aswell.
Any new solutions? I am having the same issue and can't find anything that works. It worked fine yesterday now It won't read out any hr.
After researching the HR Connection problem for the past 4 hours. I finally found the solution in an iphone thread from 2021. HRM Dual when actually connected over the bluetooth interface of android, it somehow stops to work with all the apps.
The only way to restore the functionality was to completely reset the wifi and bluetooth of your phone. (Search for reset bluetooth in the settings.) Forgetting the device only doesn't work.
Thanx! Made a reset of bluetooth & wifi settings on my Pixel 8 Pro device, connected to Garmin Hrm again and it works!
Unfortunally just worked once after reset. Having closed the Strava app, opened it again it is just connected, not showing HR. Restarted phone but it is not working
I'm having the same problem for a long time now, it's annoying when I cannot see my average HR between the other stats in my activity, when I click on the stats it will show the exact data.
Anyone knows how to put the avg HR between the other stats?
Hello, I have just bought a Garmin Dual HRM. The sensor is paired to my iPhone, but Strava does not see it. I reset all settings on my iPhone, as described in this thread, but the HRM still does not pop up in the available sensors. Is there any solution?
Hi all, @Jane11
Are you able to forward this to the bug/check list for the Android app or is it somehow possible to open another way of bug report?
I'm having the same problem and it doesn't look like a solution to every time reset Bluetooth and WiFi because of a sensor bug in Strava app, potentially with Android 14 or Pixel 8 Pro device-
F.Y.I. I'm also using Garmin HRM Dual with Pixel 8 Pro. On the first try it worked for me and in Strava on other devices with Android 13 it still works without a problem.
@Jane11 Nothing has worked, and it looks like it is not working for anyone else on this thread. I stopped my Strava subscription/let it expire because I am frustrated there is no fix. let me know when you get it fixed and I'll consider getting back on.
The only way to restore the functionality was to completely reset the wifi and bluetooth of your phone. (Search for reset bluetooth in the settings.) Forgetting the device only doesn't work. I WILL ACCEPT ISOTONIC FOR HELP 😄
I'm in your same situation..., Strava is unable to find my dual HRM, following disconnection from my bike computer and connection with the phone.
Just want to mention that this fixed it for me as well! Thanks a ton 🙂 I've been trying to figure out why it wasn't working for 2 hrs...
Unfortunately this only works once, you have to do it after each connection. Does anyone have a long term solution?
@Jane ?
I fixed the problem by resetting my bluetooth along with WiFi. On Xiaomi Android phone I went to Settings-> More connectivity options -> Reset Wi-Fi, mobile networks, and Bluetooth. I just clicked on Reset settings and it was done in few seconds. Later on I paired my Garmin HRM-Dual again with my phone and everything worked ok.
Bear in mind that you will have to reconnect with all your Bluetooth devices and Wi-Fi networks again after the reset. Because reset makes your phone forget all the previously connected devices and networks.
It's working, but you have to do it before every connection. So it's not a long term solution.
You are right. When I tried to connect today it wasn't working again.
I don’t know if there have been any other recent fixes to this issue ?
I bought a Garmin Dual HRM so I could direct record HR Data through Strava on my Pixel 6 running Android 14. It worked ‘out of the box’ but next time I connected it says that the HRM is there but the dreaded “--” under HR field.
The HRM works fine with my Edge 1000, presumably using ANT+. I haven’t done a full ‘reset Bluetooth and WIFI’ on the phone (mainly because of the number of BT devices I have) as it was suggested that this only works once, and then it stops working again.
Any help appreciated !
