Tool(s) for revising a bad GPS track?

delingren
Mt. Kenya

Hi all, is there an external tool that I can use to revise a GPS track and re-import it back to Strava? For some reason my GPS watch lost signal for a few miles on a run. So it shows a straight-line on the map, and the mileage is messed up. I was following a well established trail and the track was correctly recorded on my return trip. So the location data is available. Of course I won't be able to recover the lap times but that's fine.

Thanks in advance.

Hello @delingren

Thanks for posting about this.  We don't provide any tools for that purpose within Strava, but you could check out https://www.fitfiletools.com/

Were you running with anyone else?  If so, another option would be to use their recorded data for your activity:

You'll need to ask them to use the Add Friend button on their activity detail page which will allow them to share the activity with you. Once they've sent the invitation you can accept the copy of the activity as your own. If you accept the invitation, your friend's activity will appear on your Strava profile and feed as if it was your own. You will be grouped with the friend who invited you, the activity will count towards Challenges and Clubs you are a part of, and the activity will count towards your personal stats. The activity you are tagged in will not count towards segment leaderboards, running estimated best efforts and won't include heart, power, or cadence data. For more information on how this feature works please see our Help Center article: Inviting a Friend to Your Activity.

Thanks again for posting and let us know if that's helpful.
