update from Strava:

Hello and thank you all for your votes and comments on this suggestion.

This has been implemented and you can now hide the start time as well as other details from your activities when they appear in other athletes’ feeds or when others view your activity. The full list is below:

  • Heart rate
  • Pace or speed
  • Power
  • Calories
  • Start Time

For more information and to learn how to activate this feature, please visit this link.

Again, sincere thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts.

A long awaited feature, listed already several times in the previous community forum.

I even had an interview with Strava staff in 2019 about this: hide start time.

Why ? I do not like the idea to log my position on the internet, but I like segments and sharing with friends. Then the compromise to have the day and NOT the time of activities would be acceptable.

I saw a new feature available on Strava to hide the start time; however, I can’t for the life of my figure out how to do it.  If this is a new, available feature, why not make it simple to do???

I was so excited when i saw the new feature. I had a pop-up saying: "New: Hide your start time on any activity" but i can't figure out where i can do it. I don't think it's working but at least i guess we can understand that it's coming.... 🤗

Thanks Jane,

Great work 🙂 just confirming we have to individually hide the time of each activity? Would there be any plans in the future to make that a default setting for all activities? Would be great to just “set and forget” but regardless this is a great change and really appreciate Strava actively making changes, will definitely keep the premium account active!

Thank you Jane!!Great to see Strava is acting on user feedback!

I see this option on the website only. The IOS Strava app version 366.0.0 doesn't have it even though it hints with a banner to it.

So thrilled this has been implemented!! Thanks!! Though would be nice to be able to batch edit past activities..

@Jan_Mantau I found it on iOS app - if you click on an activity, and press edit, there’s an option right at the bottom for hiding selected fields. You can enable hiding the start time there.

@Ids Thanks, now it's there for me too. Strange, some hours ago it wasn't and I didn't update anything meanwhile.

@JohnnyBigoud @Jane The newly implemented hide start time function is moot if it’s already publicly posted to your Strava feed and you have to edit the visibility afterwards. That’s ridiculous. Feature request definitely NOT DELIVERED.

@EeeBeeIn the privacy settings you can set the default visibility of your activities to "Only You". This way you have all the time to hide the start time and then you can publish the activity to everyone.

This has not been properly delivered before it can be set as a global setting for all activities - this is causing that the time will be visible for a certain amount of time until you go in and hide it + you need to remember it every time which is waste of time and not at all user friendly.

My subscription is running out in 25 days and will not be renewed before this is changed to a global setting.

So long...

@Jan_Mantau

This is not at all user friendly and leaving all the extra work to the paid customer instead of just make it easy as a global setting...
