Hi,

I'm looking for a way to have these statistics included with my runs on strava.

I use strava to record my running and view statistics which is great.

First I started using the strava Apple Watch app but it didn't include these extra statistics. I know for example Garmin watches can sync these data to strava running activities, but don't want to buy a new watch and wondered if this is also possible with my Apple Watch. I found out that the workout app on iOS 16.1 and Apple Watch 9.1 includes this data, but not all data is synced to strava .

Is this already on the roadmap or hopefully a good idea to add :)?

Kind regards

Martijn

UPDATE FROM STRAVA (March 18, 2024)

Hello and thank you to everyone who has added their comments and feedback to this topic.

First, we want to say that we appreciate you all reaching out on this matter and sharing your thoughts. We absolutely understand the value of having as much of your activity data on Strava as possible, and how many of our athletes use an Apple Watch to record that data. We do want to let you know that we are committed to improving both the Strava Watch app experience and the integration we have with the Apple Workout app (Healthkit).

Our team is pushing forward to streamline and improve the user experience with the Strava watch app, making recording and syncing activities easier for athletes. We are also investigating how best to bring over more data from Healthkit to Strava, particularly with the releases of watchOS 9 and watchOS 10.

We will continue to work towards these goals and monitor this thread. Please be on the lookout for improvements to the Apple Watch experience in the coming year.

Please add this!  I really hope this data gets integrated so we can track better performance metrics now that Apple Watch is recording it.

As a paying customer, not including this feature is a shame - seems easy enough.

I too am an apple watch user, and would love to see cadence imported into my Strava runs. I use the native Workout app on my apple watch Ultra. I don't use the Strava app for my runs.

Oh, man. I just bought a power meter for my bike, since I knew the Apple Watch had support for it. Set it up in ten seconds and was thrilled to record it, only to be very disappointed once I imported it and saw that Strava didn't pull in that data. This is a real bummer. I know that Strava developers have a lot of factors to consider, but importing data should be top of the list! I've been a pro subscribe for years and would really like to see this feature!

Seeing that this idea is already in the “under consideration” phase - is there any ETA please?

@Soren any idea when this is going to be implemented please?

HealthFit supports exporting this from Apple Health to Strava, so it's odd that Strava still can't natively.

Came here like many others to say it’s disappointing the importing doesn’t happen. You see the power data in Apple Fitness but not in Strava. So it’s clearly there but you don’t support the import.

Do you at least support connecting to power meters through your own Apple Watch app?

@csinco No, the Strava Apple Watch app doesn't support it, either.

I know their dev team has a ton of priorities, but I find this baffling. What Strava users want is their stats, and cyclists and Apple Watch wearers must make up a big portion of users (not to mention subscribers). This is the #3 most highest-voted Idea. To leave these stats on the floor, a year past Apple's announcement of supporting these features, is both puzzling and disappointing.

For me, now can affect my desire to renew a Strava subscription; please implement reading Power and cadence from Apple Watch. I have just invested many dollars in a 4iii power meter, and the data is all in the watch; I can see it from the fitness app. I am surprised that Strava didn't work at that when watchOS 10 was in beta and made it available from day one.

4iii has a clunky system to upload all the data from Strava, but I need to record the workout from their app; this means I can not use my iPhone as a monitor on the handlebar.

Well - I just bought my Apple Watch Ultra 2 (AWU2) December 23, 2023.  I also bought a crank based powermeter.  Intention is to use the AWU2 with it's dual gps & HR plus the powermeter cadeance & watts for my cycle data wharehouse, stores in Activity & Health, then I import Health to Strava.  To my dismay, the powermeter cadence & watts data is simply not being passed, wtf?

The Strava estimates are so far off, I use a fat bike, etc.  112W avg (est) vs 166W avg (actual) is a huge difference.

I did a snow ride and it was even much more gap- estimate to actual, as zero rolling when breaking 5" - 6" snow.

who's limiting the data from being read?

What are technical roadblocks?

What are the business roadblocks?

to be fair, the title mention a lot of data,
personally I am interested in just power and cadence

Dear Strava team,

Pretty sure you have a busy roadmap and hopefully data driven prioritization of your backlog.

This said, the latest additions and the fact that this apparently basic integration of additional metrics from the Apple ecosystem has been sitting here for 2 years led me to cancel my subscription today.

Will still use it, but not pay for it, as I'm moving away from my Garmin ecosystem fully into Apple and it's clearly not your priority.

The fact Strava cannot find development resources - for what is a 15 minute piece of work - is quite concerning and not confidence inspiring as a subscription holder.

I think implementing this takes a lot longer than 15 minutes, but I agree it’s seriously disappointing. At the core of Strava is metrics and performance, and Strava is undermining a key new feature that should be available to Apple Watch users. As a many-year subscriber I’m not ready to cancel (Strava is still too useful to me) but I’m considerably less happy than I could be, and this is the first thing I’d mention in any discussion with amateur cyclists.
