There needs to be an update of various levels for climbing (as has previously been done with distance challenges) in the cycling monthly challenges as 7,500m can be done without any real effort depending on your location.

@Alastair_S1D @MattBrewis ive just cancelled my annual renewal, I’ve also requested a prorated refund (lol, will see where I get with that!).

But it’s so annoying. I didn’t really want premium, I just wanted to support them, so ordered for a year on the c. £55 offer.  That was at the start of January, and for the first time in my life, I aimed for and just hit 200km running, and the **bleep** thing was removed.

Now they seem uninterested in fixing it or admitting they made a mistake.  Going to give some alternatives a try from here on, hopefully there’s something decent - or to be honest, why not just embrace Garmin’s app?!

I don't earn the 1250km cycling distance badge often. When I do, it is a small visible honor in my trophy case that reminds me of the time and effort it took to earn the badge. The badge also points to the days of stronger riding ahead that the miles I put in earning the badge will make possible.

I was disappointed that the 1250km cycling distance challenge was not offered in January 2024. Part of my love of riding is captured by the motto of the olympics... "Faster, Higher, Stronger." I may not live up to my version of the olympic motto each month, but that 1250km cycling distance challenge was part of what galvanized me to try.

@Jane when is this going to end? You are quite happy to join threads with this one… Where is the formal reply from Strava? It’s meant to be a community, not a dictatorship.

Hi there @Jane

can you please respond?

thanks

I'm saddened to see less of the running distance challenges.  I know a lot of paying members who use the 200km and 300km badges as motivation for getting out the door, myself included.

I feel like the 200km challenge is a staple and has been around as long as I've been a member.  I don't know why it's been missing for the past two months.

Sometimes the 300 goes, but it always comes back (especially when the weather gets better), so I get it not being there all the time, but the 200km shouldn't be getting pulled.

Hello! This is my first comment here. I come to complain about the removal of the  300km and 200km running challenges. Please, restore them! #MakeNewChallenges, not remove the old ones. If more challenges, better, but never exclude the olds, please.

Hello,

I want to thank everyone who has taken the time to add their thoughts on Challenges. We appreciate your passion!  We don't have an update to share at this time, however please know that your feedback is being reviewed and we will provide updates as they become available.

Jane - thanks for responding - though not clear what it tells us about Strava’s approach. Turning something back on doesn’t seem like a big deal, given how frequently you play around with the badges.

Any idea on how long it will take to ‘review’ your loyal, but frustrated, subscribers very clear feedback?

Why was the 1250 km cycling challenge removed? I got this every month last year, the other distances are too short be challenging for me.

Hi @Jane

Please can you follow up with Strava and perhaps post daily or weekly updates to this thread?

I think it’s also a problem that the runs have been merged with the walks.  I cannot see the simple metric of what I have run last month!  The Jan recap just shows the number of hours.

Can you also suggest to Strava that to be as inclusive as possible (as I understand it, that was the motivation for the change), they could show the runs and walks separately, keeping the challenges as they were, but ADD the combined metric, with the more easily achievable goals?

thanks

Joining in that the loss of the 200km and 300km running challenges are saddening. I've already tried the workaround of "just make your own custom challenge" - however there is a severe limit to how many people you can invite to it.

In the last few months a number of changes have been made to Strava running challenges which mean that they are now a complete mess and rather pointless.

Here are a few of the things I am referring to:

  • Walking is now included as part of all running challenges
  • Treadmill runs are not included in running challenges
  • There are no longer the 200k/300k monthly distance challenges

As a Strava user who runs and walks (and logs both activities) I really do not want my walks being included in the running challenges - it is meaningless.  For instance, If I set my self a target of running 100k in a month, I don't want to look at the challenge and see that I have run 400k when actually most of this is walking.   Also, today, I did a 5k run which I thought would earn the 5k running challenge but it turns out that the 7k walk I did yesterday had already earned the challenge.

Please sort this out Strava....
