Unicycling is vastly different from regular cycling as the speed in general is much lower on a unicycle. Thus the resulting data gathered from an activity on a unicycle is not comparable to a normal ride.
I fully agree. I have tried to use various types of cycling on Strava to replicate unicycling, and it doesn't value the difference in effort, relative speed or power, or other dimensions. Using 1 when is different to 2, and needs it's own algorithm!
As an alternative I would be fine with Strava redefining cycling as always being unicycles and then adding a brand new type of sport for bicyclists called "Cycling, with a training wheel". 🤷🏼😜
+1 for this. Is "voting" just <thumbs up>'ing the OP's message? That wasn't clear and I haven't voted for anything on Strava before.
I have dozens and dozens of Uni rides on Strava where I've selected Mountain Bike Ride owing to no alternative. I end up prefixing the name of all of them with "Unicycle:" so folks don't just assume I'm terrible at mountain biking when they look at my feed.
There's also no chance I'd pay for a Premium sub unless there was formal categorization and proper effort tracking for the activity.
On the one hand, I completely agree that this should be an activity type (the way that activities in Strava works today - and I even upvoted this), but please look at this idea, as it could accomplish this without adding more activities (and leave thoughts and comments on the idea).
I would love to see a unicycling category added to Strava. I have over 5000 miles logged on Strava that I have done on a unicycle but shows up as cycling.
Did anything become of the request to add unicycling? I would love to see a unicycle activity option. As the original poster said, it is very different from bicycling. I typically move to more unicycling in the Winter in Colorado, and it would be great to have more accurate logging of those activities.
Please, please, pleeeaase make this a reality. I have used strata exclusively since 2016 or so, pay for premium, and have hundreds of rides and adventures cataloged for this reason. However, many of those rides go uncategorized into the Sport category they deserve. Add unicycles! 🤙🏻❤️
Yes ! I juste started unicycling this summer, and this week, I did my first 'acceptable' ride on my 28inch unicycle, it's on Strava. Of course, it's in the bicycle category, which doesn't make any sense ! We need a unicycle category !!! PLZ !
