Changing premium membership fees by country. In countries where the dollar rate is very high, the price may be more fair. I'm sure many more premium members will join.
For Europe there are differences per country. They all use the euro with the same exchange rate. This random pricing policy makes no sense at all and sounds like “we charge what we feel we can get away with”. Therefore I have cancelled my premium membership.
There's a LOT of online buzz about the rate increases for 2023. I think they are over the top as far as an increase goes. I also have a screenshot from my account that shows what my annual renewal charge will be next August when I'm up for renewal. I expect Strava will be honouring the date/amount indicated on the account
I have a screenshot of my Account info where it states mine will renew in 2023 for $76.99. Now I'm being told it will be $99.99. This is like going to a store and finding that the merchant wont honor the price on the tag, when you're ready to check out. How is that legal?
We appreciate the additional comments added to this idea and wish to provide further information. Operating a global business can mean athlete experiences may differ in some ways. In the case of pricing, we took into account that what might seem affordable in one country could feel very cheap or very expensive to someone in another country.
@Rixter As of a few weeks ago, the Account page should now be updated for everyone. If you do not see an update please submit a support ticket.
To find out more about why the subscription price has changed, the section ‘Why did my subscription price change?‘ in this Help Center article contains further information.
All sorted now @Soren My beef wasn't that Strava raised their prices, though I think the increase is excessive. My issue is that when I looked at my account page it stated I will renew at a particular rate. I have the screenshot. Now my account has a higher renewal rate. That would be like going to a cashier with an item only to be told that the store won't honor the ticketed price and wants to charge more. Can't do that.

meanwhile on principle I am holding out. Australia is being asked to pay $99. which feels high and is HIGH on purchasing price parity terms.
here is why, facturally ""In 2022, purchasing power parity for Australia was 1.4 LCU per international dollars. Though Australia purchasing power parity fluctuated substantially in recent years, it tended to increase through 2003 - 2022 period ending at 1.4 LCU per international dollars in 2022.""
that means it costs us 1.40 in local currency (AUD) to by what in amercia costs $1
so we should be charged around AUD $65 not AUD $99, no? (i might have it wrong)
As an EU national or resident you can't be charged a higher price when buying products or services in the EU just because of your nationality or country of residence.
When you buy goods online in the EU, prices may vary from country to country or across different versions of the same website, for example due to differences in delivery costs. However, if you buy goods online without cross-border delivery – such as when you buy something online which you intend to collect from a trader or shop yourself – you should have access to the same prices and special offers as buyers living in that EU country. You cannot be charged more or prevented from buying something just because you live in another country.“
After nearly 10 years I‘ve now canceld my premium menbership, because I don‘t want to support illegal behaviour.
Such a shame, have been a long lasting Premium supporter and loved it, but the absurd fact that different countries will be charged with different pricing is a smack in the face and not understandable. Now getting flooded with Strave Emails explaining the Premium advantages. How ignorant and silly. Very disappointed, luckily there are alternatives like Garmin Connect.
