Feedback: Heatmap changes

Forum|alt.badge.img+9

What have you done to Heatmaps?  I do not care about businesses, or where other people have run, walked, or biked, and the new color selection interface does not allow basemap changes from the same interface (as it should).  Also, as I zoom out, the once-useful aggregation of workouts (showing a circle and number at scales where the actual paths get tiny and useless) is now gone.  Writing this as a cartographer, recent changes are not an improvement.  Is there a way to recover the old display mode?

Hello Everyone. Clusters are back, and now they work for all sports. Thank you for your feedback and for your patience while we updated it to work for the new sport filtering options. Let us know if you have further thoughts. We're always glad to hear from ya!

Agreed.  I absolutely hate the change.  This is the only feature that I use as a Subscriber and the recent change is going to definitely going to lead to a cancellation of my subscription.  I have to set the date parameters every time I log into the heat map.  Not interested.

Bring back the old version.  This is a major downgrade!!

I am very annoyed that I have lost the ability to easily see a year at a time, and especially year to date, without entering dates explicitly each time. It does not even save my settings. It is fine to add new features but please do not remove useful things that just worked. If this is still broken next sub renewal I will not renew, as it is easier to see in VeloViewer

I agree that the business and points-of-interest view clutters the map and makes it harder to see the routes. I would appreciate if Strava could bring back the toggle to turn off all labels.

love this feature, but it appears the update has killed the activity clusters check box. without it, it's very hard to see anything except incredibly zoomed in views.

heat map is one of my favourite feature but with the new version I'm definitely missing the activity cluster 😞

Forum|alt.badge.img+6

Very unhappy with the recent heatmap updated. All the features that were loved before have been removed. Please bring back the ability to select a certain year, nothing more annoying that having to select Jan 1 and Dec 31st(or the current date) to be able to see what I have completed this year. Not to mention you have to do this every time as all settings get reverted back to the "standard" settings. Also remove point of interests on the heatmap. No body uses Strava to find the local coffee shop or grocery store. Very disappointed in Strava and this inches me even closer to cancelling my subscription.

Bring back the activity clusters.  If you zoom out now you can no longer see areas where you have activity.

Forum|alt.badge.img+5

Agree. The ability to zoom out and see all your activities in a city or country grouped together was the best feature. Please bring back Activity Clusters!

Please bring back the old Heatmaps with Activity Clusters. The new Heatmaps are a major downgrade from the previous version. Thanks.

Please bring back the activity clusters on the personal heatmap! The old version of personal heatmap was working just fine and it was one of the features why I renewed my subscription.

yeah, I agree,  the old one is considerably more functional.

specifically, It was useful for seeing my heatmap for the current year grow for running and walking activities.  Now it is more complicated to select just the current year,  and impossible to show more than one activity type at a time.

I will unsubscribe if they will not bring back or improve the heatmaps. I enjoy reviewing the old version knowing how man times I have been in a same place doing activities and excited to make activities on places that I don't have. The numbers gave me great stories to my son where I have been thru when I got home after a contract in seafaring.

I agree on the year at a time view, I am pleased to see a custom date range back, but prefer the ability to click a year as the default option.

The new date selector in the personal heatmaps is a nice addition but please bring back the "year picker" to quickly select a year.

With the new date picker it is really hard to quickly compare years.

The heatmap is one of my favourite features however I agree that the recent changes are a massive down grade. When zoomed out you no longer can see all the countries easily that you have covered and it takes a lot of zooming in before you even can see the activity. The old numbers were a great locator of where you have been but now you have to rely on memory to see where you have been. Please bring back the number count!!

Yes, please bring back activity clusters to heatmaps. As someone who travels frequently it was one of my favorite features. Now it's next to impossible to find the various activities I've logged throughout North America and Europe.

Likewise. They have until it expires this summer to bring it back. No idea why they have changed it.

Another vote for bringing back activity clusters

Hello! I do enjoy the new look and feel of the Personal Heatmaps, but really miss the filters by year. Each year, I would take a screenshot at the end of the year for my personal heatmap as a memento for that year's cycling, but with the new heatmap, having to select a custom date range is just enough friction to be really annoying. Also, the date range picker was acting wonky on my browser when I used it a few weeks ago. Haven't tried it again since. Anyway, that year filter was a great feature that I am sad to see gone in the new personal heatmap.

Heatmap used to display total activity count in different countries/regions/cities on the map, this feature was great to track your activities around the world. Now you need to zoom-in exact location, and then it shows-up in the heatmap (and still doesn't show the count).

Could you please bring back this feature from before?
Thanks

My vote to re-instate activity clusters as well. Feels like a downgrade not to have them.

Could not agree more - Please bring back the aggregation (where the route lines become circles as you zoom out)!

50% of the reason I use heatmap is to see where I've been in a city / area (new version still does this great). But the other 50% is, I love seeing where I've run across Canada + the US, and the entire world (i.e., the fitness/activity version of a "world map travel peg board"), and the new heatmap is now totally useless at this!
