SUBSCRIPTION AUTO RENEWAL

Forum|alt.badge.img+3

Why isn't it possible to cancel auto renewal?  I have just discovered that I have signed up for another year when my intention was not to and I was expecting to be advised my subs were coming up for renewal.  Instead it happened automatically and I didn't even receive a receipt as notice this has occurred.

@SimonL, did this get resolved for you? What was CS’ reasoning for this occurring? Was considering purchasing premium subscription for my son. This auto-renewal issue makes me less inclined to do so.

There doesn't seem to be a mechanism to stop auto renewal. You have to cancel the subscription after you've made it. It then runs for the year.

Dutch consumer protection law: when a yearly subscription expires, it may only be auto-renewed per month and can be cancelled by the consumer on a month's notice.

So if it auto-renews for a full year you have to make an exception for your dutch subscribers, and for anyone else from countries with similar laws.

The monthly subscription fee is higher than the yearly fee dividided by 12 months. Do you really think all dutch customers want to pay that?

They can always manually renew for a year to save a few euros 😀
