So my question is basically summarized in the title. I have a route which starts and ends at the same location (a loop). Now I want to modify the route to keep it the same loop, but to start and end it at a different location (without having to recreate the entire route from the new start point).

So, I contacted support and they told me to open an idea, so I did. If you are looking for this feature, please upvote this idea:
+2Having a simple option to change the start point up or down your waypoint list would help a lot. Or simply add it to the context menu of waypoints when you click one (“start from here” if it’s a loop).
This would also mean that Strava should know that your route is a loop and not a path, so that the end point is the start point.
+2Strava does not have a way to do that, but I’d just download the GPX and splice it.
If you’re brave you can do it in a text editor, otherwise an app like Viking would be good
