When I go to the "You" tab on the mobile app (I'm on iOS), for some reason "Walk" shows up first, followed by All Run, Run, and Bike. "Run" is set as my primary sport, so I can't think of any reason why Walk would be shown first.

I've attached a screenshot below. It seems unintuitive to me, and there's no way to change the ordering.

I took a look at your account and tallied up the number of runs vs. number of yoga activities you've done in the past 12 weeks and your runs are currently outnumbering the yoga sessions. This is on a rolling 12 week basis, so thanks for confirming that it's displaying as expected. Happy running!

Thanks. As of last night, it is putting Walking as the number one thing...but I don't think there is any way that I have done more walking activities than running in the last 12 weeks. In fact, I went in and counted the activities manually...so in that count I have 72 running in the last 12 weeks and 40 walking. So this makes me think maybe the algorithm isn't working properly. No big deal, but I like to have the running listed as first for my OCD brain.

Strava and tech really have no idea what the algorithm is for ordering activities.  Their answers are always different and always “the algorithm is working properly.”  For July, August, September, I’ve been out of town 4 weeks so 4 weeks I am not walking my dogs but I record a “run” everyday regardless of where I am.  I had about 275 miles of running in July, 180 in August, 150 so far in September.  I had about 42 miles of walking in July, 72 in August, about 30 in September so far.  I still have walk as first activity listed.  Dumb dumb dumb.

I'm sorry the ordering is causing you such frustration. I've taken a look at your activities and it looks like you've uploaded 6 more walk activities than run activities in the past 12 weeks. The mileage/times don't play into the ordering calculations, just the number of activities per Sport Type. So if you for example do a short walk every day but one long run a week, walk will appear first and run second. If you want us to investigate further, please submit a support ticket including a screenshot of your 12 week chart and we’ll look into it for you.

Run and trail run are grouped in the "All Run" stats, but are also counted individually, and when compared to the number of walks in the past 12 weeks, it appears that the number of walks is greater than the number of the separate run type activities.
I understand that the underlying concern is to have control over the ordering of your preferred Sport Types on your profile stats. We have the following idea that you can vote for if you desire and I'll be happy to resurface this with our product team.

Customize order/set default Sport Types on mobile Profile & Progress tabs

So why isn’t all run listed first as the combination of run and trail run activities are more than walk.  It’s been previously stated that this is how the algorithm is supposed to work.

Please resurface this with the product team. There is clearly a lot of frustration around this. Thanks Soren!

This is incorrect. My running activities in terms of distance, frequency, quantity out weigh my walking activities by about 20 to 1 yet it annoyingly defaults to walking as the primary activity. Really annoying as the walking is just commuting, not my main interest or focus on Strava.

I've been having this issue for quite some time now. Running is listed first on my profile, but the "Statistics" section automatically pulls in cycling first. I have no idea why. In the entirety of 2023 I recorded two cycling activities totalling just over 100km – meanwhile I ran more than 100km in December alone, and nearly 300km in the last 12 weeks of 2023.

Bizarrely this has continued into 2024. I've run 4 runs totalling 46km this year and recorded 0 cycling activities – and my profile is showing the Statistics section as simply a dash. Very jarring that it looks as if I haven't done any activity this year!

Cycling was my primary activity when I downloaded Strava in 2020, so I'm not sure if that plays a factor. I also have cycling "equipment" included but not running equipment, in case that makes a difference. Given that I mainly use Strava for running now, I'd love to be able to change the order on this. (For the record, I'm about to record a cycling activity today, so the information I've given here may not be accurate by the time someone reads this post!)

If you go to your profile page, then tap Edit, you can change your Primary Sport to running.

I've just tested it out and it changes which sport it pulls up on your Statistics depending on whether your select running or cycling as your Primary Sport.

Thanks so much, Nathan! I can't believe I spent so much time going through my profile settings and never once noticed there was an edit button, but that did the trick.

Is the number of activities considered in the ordering, over the past 12 weeks or the past 4 weeks? Thanks

I have default private for all activities i get from my garmin. And then select to share my runs manually. I dont want to show all the irrelevant walks, and some smaller sessions. But since i talk a lot of small walks that remain private my profile shows walk as main thing. Which is ridiculus. Please change so that it only shows public ones if u have both private and public activities.
