Garmin Connect activity upload problem.

Having a problem with route uploads from my Garmin GPSMap 66st to my Strava account via the Garmin Connect app.

For a while now, all it will upload is the very first part of the activity. Distance is showing as a few metres regardless of activity length. However, the calories burned figure tallies with the Garmin record.

I've seen that there are some issues recently with syncing, but this has been happening to me for a good while now. I've not yet tried a file upload direct as yet.

Any ideas?  Is it likely to be a Garmin issue or Strava?

Attached are screenshots of the Garmin Connect route and what Strava shows of the same.

Further update to anyone curious about this...

As above, I've switched off the auto pause option on my Garmin. This definitely helped with not having the upload-to-strava version of the route abruptly end, as in the opening post.

I've tried manually pausing the garmin when temporarily stopped and this has the same effect on the upload as auto pause.

The only work around seems to stop the route at each break point and save it, starting a fresh route when moving off again. Far from ideal, as obviously strava then records lots of separate routes for one activity.

So, not a solution but the best of the limited options, at least giving a full upload of an activity, albeit fragmented.

I'm still of the opinion that something has been altered by strava, that interprets temporary route stops/breaks as route end points.

Down to you Strava!

All the best.

When I just download the track as gpx from the Garmin Connect webpage and upload it to the Strava webpage everything is ok.

But the automatic sync from Garmin Connect to Strava fails: It just uploads the first part of the track until the first break in my trip.

Is the original file format GPX or is it a FIT file?

If it's FIT (fairly standard for Garmin devices) try the things I suggested above and see what happens.

I don't know which format is being sent.

I will give your suggestions a try, to understand what the exact problem might be.

In the Strava activity you can select Export Original from the "..." menu to see what file (and format) Strava received.

Same here. Strava just shows the track until the first break/stop of my activity.
